The 750MC - Roadsports Championship is hotting up - what isn't, this week?! - and the next round is tomorrow at Anglesey Circuit. That's also the day my father-in-law turns 70, so we're going to be in Cardiff celebrating him while Imran races the E36 solo!

Stepping to the logistical rescue is Matt with his mahoosive trailer, delivering a garage-to-paddock service all that way. What a star. This is not only the first time the E36 has ever travelled to a race meeting not under its own power, it'll also be the first time it competes without me present. Fortunately, there's a live stream so I can do a bit of helicopter parenting... 🔭🤓

Nah, it couldn't be in better hands. Imran is a superb driver, an excellent engineer, a great mate and - oh yeah - a championship winner. I can't wait to see how he goes off the back off our victory at Silverstone last month! The car seems to like Anglesey and I've won Roadsports there before, so there's absolutely everything to play for. Stay tuned, but on Imran's account, not mine, I won't know what's going on until after it happens 🤣

In case you missed it, the footage from Silverstone's 750MC - Roadsports race is now live! We collect our fair share of drama in qualifying and the first few minutes, and seeing how Imran and I both make almost exactly the same lap time is super satisfying.

But in the end, Imran's brief before I went out to start the race was bang on the money: "Just drive it for maximum efficiency every lap". There was a wide range of pitstop penalties across the field - Creed had more, Beardmore had less - so that's what it took to win this one, no mistakes, minimise time lost to traffic faster & slower, and just keep on nailing it lap after lap. The car felt mega throughout, and I didn't want to get out!

Imran Khan returned to the podium in the Tegiwa Roadsports Championship at Brands Hatch.

The 2019 Club Enduro champion had not raced in Roadsports since 2018 before this season. Along with Sam McKee, the pairing claimed second in Class C after a repair job following a Qualifying incident in the McKee Motorsport BMW E36 328i.

What a ride that was.

Sharing the GT World Challenge Europe paddock to race on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit was never likely to be uneventful, but we'd no idea just what was in store for us!

Imran Khan took his first-ever laps of the GP circuit in qualifying, figuring out enough to bag a 1:48 and fifth in class before handing over to me to set a lap with more circuit experience. A fine theory, but right at the end of my outlap, I got nobbled by Alastair Lindsay diving up the inside into Clearways. His Class B TT understeered across the circuit and I went into the back of him, ripping the front bumper off its mountings and bending a chassis leg in the process.

We set to, pulling everything damaged off the car, straightening and reinforcing what we could and working around what we couldn't. It was a big job in pretty scorching heat, but with the able assistance of Imran's nephew Adam we three got the car cobbled back together and fit to race - splitter and all!

It was worth it. Taking the first stint, Imran had some cracking fights and showed just how ferocious a racer he is, passing cars in class as well as class above, and firmly getting his eye in to tumble the laptimes to 1:46s. By the time he handed over to me in a slick pitstop, I just had to consolidate the result - with Matt Creed's Clio way up the road and our nearest competition Luke Beardmore's RX-8 retiring, I built a gap to everyone else and second place on the podium was ours. I loved driving the GP circuit again, and strung together the car's fastest-ever lap of 1:45.7 on my way to the chequered flag and much relief. But don't take my word for any of it - the footage is live now!

And I even got my number plate back from the marshals for the drive home. Result.

We've hit the big time now...
..look at the setup we're parked opposite! 😅 We're at Brands Hatch for the second round of the 750MC - Roadsports Championship, and not only is it on the glorious, fabled Grand Prix circuit - it's also as part of a GT World Challenge meeting. I've been in some paddocks in my time, but this is something else! Seeing Valentino Rossi ride past on his way up to the pits to qualify, with kids running after him waving, brought the point home nicely 😁 this is pretty surreal place to be, never mind race from tomorrow.

Our show gets underway with qualifying at 10am Sunday, and our 45min race starts at 5pm. Imran Khan's going to take the first stint and I'm gonna bring the car home. And after gearbox off, new seals, new clutch, and a new(-to-us) exhaust with a whole new mounting design since Croft, I am pretty bloody determined to bring the car home this time! Watch this space.

Sam McKee has been contesting his ninth season of racing in the Tegiwa Roadsports Championship this year. The design engineer from Bristol started his racing journey in the category in 2017 in his BMW E36 328i which is driven to events and now has well over 200,000 miles on the clock. He has shared the car with Samuel Rasool and Barny Francis this season and they scored a best result of second in Class C at Croft.

The fifth - fifth, already! - round of the 2025 750MC - Roadsports Championship at Silverstone International last weekend saw yet another new driver take the wheel in the E36. I shared this round with Barny Francis, a mere two weeks after he wrote me to see if there might be a chance of driving. Whyever not?!

What a mixed bag from Snetterton! Weather, performance, results - you name it, we had all the moods this weekend 😅

Samuel Rasool and I took to Norfolk for the fourth round of the 750MC - Roadsports Championship, via some Friday afternoon testing for Samuel. This was, of course, his first time at the circuit, and the monsoon we drove through to get there had settled by his first session so he got the chance to figure it out in plenty of dry running. And he didn't hang about - a 2:18.0 is not to be sniffed at, already within two seconds of my own target laptime!

He'd reported the car felt spot on, so when I jumped in in qualifying I had high hopes. She felt absolutely mega. The handling balance, the brakes, the outright grip, all were superb and resulted in a car that felt totally chuckable. You could do whatever you liked with total faith. Awesome! Despite seeing the potential for a 2:15 a couple of times, we landed on a 2:16.0 and fifth of the 13 entrants in Class C. Tidy enough.

I took the start, much delayed after a rare failure for one of the Darkside Developments TTs on the formation lap, and found most of my racing was against Class B cars while the C field spread out! Ben Macaulay's Lotus in my mirrors kept me honest, especially as he stood second in the championship and only one point ahead of us, but I gradually eased away. Gradually was kind of the feeling, actually - especially when around Class D cars I wondered if the car was making the power.

Mid-distance Samuel jumped in, lying P4, and arrived back into view completely sideways at the end of his first lap, so no doubting his commitment 🤭 and after a couple of laps he was already down to his testing pace. Despite a strong effort he didn't quite manage to fend off the Salisbury Civic and we crossed the line fifth in class - and a satisfying couple seconds ahead of Ben's Lotus 💪🏻

I couldn't let my doubts lie, though. A dyno check after the race confirmed them: against a class limit of 180bhp/ton, we'd been racing at 162bhp/ton! In those conditions, the result feels like a minor triumph, but man what a waste of what could have been! I think I've fixed it. Next time.. 👀
