💎💙 🧡WEEKEND UPDATE 🧡💙💎
Apologies for being a little quiet with the updates lately. It’s been a really busy period away from the pitch, but I’m back with another weekend to be incredibly proud of these girls. ⚽️💙
💎 SATURDAY — SAPPHIRES v WARRINGTON WIZARDS 💎
Saturday brought another tough fixture against the Warrington Wizards.
We played most of the first half a player short and, despite battling incredibly hard, were unlucky to go into half-time 2-1 down conceding the 2nd in added time in the first half.
The second half saw us eventually run out of steam, but the girls never stopped fighting. They continue to love their Saturday fixtures against the boys, and you can see week after week how much these games are helping them grow in confidence, resilience and belief.
⭐ Parents’ Player & Opposition Player — Penelope
Penelope is getting better and better with every single game. Her progress is fantastic to watch, and she thoroughly deserved the recognition.
🧤 Coaches’ Player — Evelyn
Another brilliant performance from our keeper, pulling off some wonderful saves and giving everything for the team.
⚽️ Goal Scorer — Charlotte
A lovely finish from Charlotte, calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner in a very busy penalty area. Composed and clinical!
💎 SUNDAY — Diamonds v Eagle supernovas💎
Sunday saw us face high-flying Eagle, and what a game it was!
Eagle are a lovely club with a great team, and both sides put on a cracking game of football. It was end-to-end from start to finish, with some really good football played by both teams.
In the end, I think a draw was absolutely the right result. A proper game of football with two teams giving everything. 👏
⭐ Opposition Player — Scarlett
Solid in defence throughout and topped off her performance with an absolute cracker of a goal!
⚽️ Goals — Betsy & Oria
Betsy found the net for the second Sunday running with another lovely finish.
And then there was Oria…
Our new signing produced a standing overhead kick from a corner that I’m still trying to work out how she actually managed it! ⚽️
⭐ Parents’ Player — Isabella
A wonderful game from Isabella, who was switched on throughout and absolutely deserved the recognition.
⭐ Coaches’ Player — Elizabeth
Elizabeth absolutely busted a gut in midfield. Non-stop running, battling and giving everything for the team. 💪
And honestly, looking at these girls now, it’s hard not to feel incredibly proud.
They are playing a year up, competing against some really good teams and continuing to grow in confidence every single week.
The football is improving. The understanding is improving. The belief is improving.
But most importantly, they are enjoying themselves.
They turn up, they work hard, they support each other and they never give up. That’s what makes this group so special.
There will be difficult games. There will be days when things don’t go our way. But every single week these girls are learning, developing and becoming better footballers and, more importantly, better teammates.
To see how far they’ve come and then watch them take on teams a year above them with the attitude they show is something everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.
Keep going, girls. Keep believing. Keep enjoying your football.
The future is looking very bright for these Diamonds & Sapphires. 💎💙🧡⚽️
As always I would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors Harrison Barlow Mortgages & Cheshire Training Academy.
