Our free coaching session with Mark Mattinson in the The Golf Haven at Whitehaven Golf Club. Just over 2 hours for a single junior member that came to practice and learn more about the game. Range time, sim time and on course time. Reed (9) hit the 2nd green from the Red tees to 12 feet and just missed his birdie putt. Quality time with Mark our PGA Pro.

Whitehaven Golf Club welcomed competitors from across West Cumbria and beyond on Saturday 1st August for the club’s Open 2 from 4 Team Event. A total of 21 teams contested the event, with players representing Whitehaven alongside visitors from Seascale, St Bees, Maryport, Cockermouth, Silloth-on-Solway, Workington and The Dunnerholme.

The day remained dry, overcast skies at time, a blustery wind provided a stern test throughout the competition, demanding accurate shot-making and good teamwork in the popular four-man 2 from 4 team format.
Taking first prize were the mixed team of Kyle Graham (workington), Gareth Wilson (Workington), Mark Bedford (Workington) and K Davis (Cockermouth) who returned an excellent score of 106 points to secure victory.
A close second place, with a score of 105 points, went to the Cockermouth quartet of Grant Alexander, Paul Ivison, Colin Heron and Paul Vaughan.
Third Place, with a score of 101 points went to Whitehaven quartet of David Bradley, Christopher Stewart, Steven Tunstall and Mark Adams.
Fourth place with a score of 99 points was another Quartet from Cockermouth of Liam Cooke, Will Varty, Bryan Thompson and Nigel Carruthers.
Fifth Place with a score of 96 went to Clark Curnow (Seascale), John Birkett (Whitehaven), Adam Charnley (Whitehaven) and Jonathon Pattinson (Whitehaven).

The Nearest the Pin competition on the 2nd hole was won by Whitehaven member Stuart Whitelock, whose excellent tee shot finished just 3 meters from the flag.

2’s winners are as follows Stuart Whitelock, Nigel Carruthers, David Moffat, Simon Jackson, Michael Byers and Mark Adams.

All prizes are in form of vouchers lodged with Cumbria Golf Centre in the Driving Range.
