Lily Update:
Evening all. Well that seems like that. Summer is over and the waterproofs are out much to Gwen’s delight 😩 she can’t understand why she’s not tucked up in her stable now that the temperature has dropped below 25 😆 Lily couldn’t care less, she’s just glad the flies are disappearing.
Lil had her physio session last week and needed a bit of work as she’d got a bit tight doing a bit more hill work and playing on the cross country course so she had a few days off over the weekend. It was back to work on monday with a quick school in the arena with Lauren and Nova and then a little hack around the circuit to finish. All went well until we were coming home under the bridge and I made her go in front. For some wierd reason she decided she wanted to be more Tigger and we bounced and boinged our way under the bridge with a tail like a helicopter rotor 🫣 The poor man in a white van coming towards us was very kind and decided, very sensibly, to wait while we boinged past and in through the gate home 😆 Luckily most drivers are kind and considerate but I can do without madam showing off to Nova in the middle of the road 🤦‍♀️. Anyway, we survived and on Tuesday I set out some poles in the school as it was a bit damp by the time I got to ride. Lady Lil was fab and we both finished smiling. Wednesday I decided to go for a hack, on my own 😢 as Lauren has to work (how sad 😏). We had a little toddle down and around river meadow and then went into the wood to the green bridge. She’s never keen on going through the gate and mutters a bit but didn’t ague too much so that’s a real step forward. When we got to the bridge she decided she was going over as she thought that was the way home (it is normally but I had other ideas as I had Elsie with me, as emotional support dog, and needed to go back the way I came). She was a bit put out when I turned her round and refused to walk back across unless Elsie went first 🤦‍♀️ then it was back round river meadow and home. On the way we jumped a few little rails and I think she thinks she’s jumping round Badminton 😳 let’s just say she was a little exuberant with her back end 😂. This morning I decided to do the similar and we set off with great confidence - minus the ESD (Elsie) - First we negotiated the Squirrasaurus and Rabbiceratops herds, then came the Troglodyte (fisherman) lurking in the bushes 😱. We survived and made it to the green bridge in one piece and once again she headed over in the hopes of going home. I turned her round and she stepped back onto the bridge then hesitated. We both held our breath and then she stepped bravely forward and we continued, her snorting and me turning purple because I was still holding my breath 😂😂 Bless her I was so proud of her ☺️ Once back in River Meadow we crossed the bridge and turned left to the orchard. Something moving on the river by the bank caught my eye - a chuffing Goose - I did my best to be relaxed and tried to keep her concentration away from the terror we were about to pass. We almost made it but just as we drew level the chuffing thing decided to honk - very very loudly 😖 She stopped dead and tried to turn to face it but bless her little heart she listened to me and walked, albeit hurriedly, away from it and into the Orchard, all the while it was honking like mad until we were out of sight. That was quite enough excitement for one day so we calmly walked home, giving the Troglodyte a wide berth, and made it back to the safety of the stable 😮‍💨. In the afternoon the vet visited for jabs and teefs so I think she deserves a quiet day tomorrow. Me too.
Anyway, night night, sleep tight. Xx
