Emotional and practical Post natal support for any new mums in the Surrey and Sussex area

I am a postnatal doula working in the Surrey and Sussex areas in South East England. I have trained in baby wearing, mindful breast feeding, mothers mental health, and postnatal massage. I run a check in service as well as minimum three hour sessions where I support a new mother post birth, signposting, reassuring and nurturing her so she can put her well-being first and bond with baby in a safe space. I am also a developing doula companion to new doulas and the Doula Uk Guildford rep.

There is something about an early morning beach, but here’s a little reminder, peace isn’t always found by the sea.

For new mums, sometimes peace looks like someone holding the baby while you shower, making you lunch, listening without judgement, or giving you permission to simply rest.

Postnatal support isn’t a luxury. It’s the space to breathe, recover and find yourself again.

Wishing you a little moment of calm today, wherever you are.

Once your doula, always your doula.

July has been a magical, if a bit sticky, mixing bowl of my worlds of motherhood and doula’hood.
Weaning, introducing bottles, baby wearing, sensory play, cooking, puree’ing and blending, first aid courses, studying and sharing ideas with my doula gang has met with taxi’ing teens around, early morning dog walks, beach days, time on the yoga mat for my sanity, a quick trip to Poland that we are still processing and lots of mummy daughter shopping!

It’s taken me a while to adjust to the juggle but summer heat can feel unsettling and scattered and I am learning that that is ok. It’s helped me reassure and chat to my clients who have been feeling overwhelmed and out of control. The heat has been another layer on top of what every mum is already juggling, and though the summer is bright and full of energy, it’s still ok to rest and take our time.

Happy weekend everyone xx

Today’s menu?

Not for a Michelin critic…
But For someone who thinks broccoli belongs in their eyebrows and aubergine splatters make their jumper look catwalk ready!

One batch-cooking session = weeks of homemade purées ready to grab from the freezer, with far less stress for you.

I can sit down with my client and work out what purées or first meals they might like. We will use weaning books if they have particular favourites, or want to try a certain weaning specialist. I can support with signposting, extra support, workshops and education. And, If there are older siblings to consider, we can work on menu planning for the whole family.

Future You is going to be very grateful. ☺️

If you needed permission to lower the bar this week… here it is!!

The last week of term can feel like a marathon. Sports days, assemblies, forgotten costumes, emotional children, tired parents and a never-ending pile of washing and a lot of clapping!

So here’s your reminder…

✨ Fish fingers count.
✨ The washing can wait.
✨ A film after school is absolutely okay.
✨ Saying “I’m tired too” doesn’t make you a bad parent.

Your children won’t remember whether every box was ticked this week. They’ll only remember that they felt loved and excited about a break!

So if all you do today is get everyone over the finish line, that’s more than enough.

Take a deep breath. The summer holidays are almost here.

You’ve got this!

The truth is, I came into motherhood carrying a lot of medical trauma, breast cancer treatment and uncertainty.

Those experiences have taught me something I’ll never forget: every mother has a story you can’t always see.

I have learned that practical help can feel like love and that being listened to can be more healing than being given advice. And that every mother deserves someone in her corner.

That’s why I do what I do today, not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it feels like to need someone to simply be there, validate my emotions, reassure me and offer me a space to offload without judgement.

Every family I support has a different story. My own simply reminds me never to assume what someone is carrying.

One of the greatest privileges of my work isn’t just supporting families, it’s also supporting the doulas who support them.

Being a Doula Companion isn’t about having all the answers or telling someone how they should work.

It’s about walking alongside another doula as they discover the kind of doula they want to become.
That can mean celebrating a breakthrough after a beautiful postnatal visit.
- untangling the emotions after a difficult birth.
- simply being the person who says, “You’re doing better than you think”, because this work can ask a lot of us.

We hold space for families navigating huge life changes. We witness joy, exhaustion, uncertainty and grief. We carry stories that deserve to be handled with care.

Doulas need a safe place to reflect, ask questions, build confidence and remember that they don’t have to do this alone either. I needed all of this and still do! The best doulas aren’t the ones who know everything, they are the ones who stay curious and who keep learning, reflecting, and seeking support when they need it.

When we invest in doulas, we’re also investing in every family they’ll go on to support so if you’re a doula who’s just starting out, or even years into your journey and you’re looking for community, someone to walk alongside you, my door is always open.

✨ Have you ever had someone who quietly believed in you before you fully believed in yourself? Tell me about them below ⬇️

Some mums breastfeed. Some bottle feed. Some do both. Some change their minds along the way.

What I’ve learned as a doula is that babies need feeding, but mothers need caring for too. And guilt is rarely helpful to either.

However your feeding journey looks today, you deserve support, compassion and the freedom to make the choices that work for your family.

A confession from someone who has had cancer a few times…

Sometimes I think new mums affected by cancer deserve a loyalty card.

☕ Buy 10 hospital appointments, get one uninterrupted nap free.

☕ Collect points every time someone says,
“But you look so well.”

☕ Bonus rewards for attending an oncology appointment while simultaneously remembering where you left the muslins.

Because The mental gymnastics are Olympic-level. One minute you’re discussing scan results and the next you’re googling whether baby poo should be that colour.
One minute you’re worrying about your future and next you’re crying because your baby smiled at you.
Motherhood after cancer can feel wonderfully ordinary and completely extraordinary all at once and that’s why real, solid support matters so much, because you’re carrying things that many people can’t see.

This carousel is a reminder that if cancer is part of your motherhood story, your needs may look different. You may need more rest, more practical help and more reassurance and a lot more understanding.
But none of that makes you demanding. It makes you human.
And as postnatal doula and a mum who’s walked this road herself, I believe every mother deserves support, but those navigating motherhood after cancer deserve support that truly gets it.
And perhaps the occasional hot cup of tea. ☕️

Xx

A few years ago, a heavily whale-esq pregnant me spent an entire afternoon researching the best baby carriers, hospital bags and whether I needed a special fan for labour.

What I didn’t research was who was going to fold the mountain of washing, make me lunch with one hand while holding a baby, reassure me during a 3am wobble, or remind me that surviving on cold tea and half a biscuit isn’t actually a postnatal recovery plan. Most of us spend months preparing for birth and about five minutes thinking about what comes next and that’s where a postnatal doula comes in.

Whether you’d love a little extra support, regular practical help, nourishing food, a listening ear, feeding support, recovery guidance, or someone to tell you that yes, it really is normal to cry because you’ve run out of hummus, I have a package to suit.

✨ 12 hours
✨ 18 hours
✨ 24 hours

Plus I also offer a menu of additional services that can be tailored to your family, needs and budget, because transitioning to motherhood and easing into this first year, wasn’t meant to be done alone and every new mum deserves more than a six-week check-up and a “good luck!”
