Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond

Directions

Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond A small project being set up to match retired greyhounds needing homes with homes needing retired greyhounds. We are very proud of all the dogs that we rehome.

We treat all the retired dogs as the awesome, retired, professional athletes that they are. They are all magnificent, whether they were 'open' class champions or running in the graded classes. All of them have been a joy to watch and a privilege to own. Here at Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond we believe that all that joy and the privilege of owning the dogs will go with them into their new homes.

Now let's have a huge shout out for Cwtchy Coo. She'll be arriving in a couple of weeks when she's recovered from her lady's operation.
Cwtchy (pronounced cutchy-it's Welsh) had a nasty accident and despite the most specialist of specialist treatment and a complete recovery she just won't put her foot down
Soooooo we're looking for just the right home, one with a nice big garden with an owner who doesn't particularly want to go for long walks. We know loads of people like that are out there, are you one of them? If you are and you want a lovely little greyhound to cuddle then get in touch 🥰

Little Elle is made to feel very welcome in her new forever home. She understands this very well indeed and shows it by chewing on a buffalo ear. Happy days Elle and welcome home.

Well it's been a busy few days for the greyhounds here at Greyhounds Swindon and Beyond. First, little Bea went off to her forever home and learned very quickly how to sit for a treat. Second, Bertie became someone's last minute birthday surprise and what a happy new dad he's got.
The walk today was fantastic with 48 dogsx in attendance with their lovely owners. It was very windy and a bit on the chilly side but no rain!
ÂŁ83.84 was donated to help the hounds and soon there's going to be an example of how donations are spent. Watch this space.
And last but by no means least two dogs were reserved, even before they've had chance to feature on the page. Sleeky and Shooter, both reserved pending home checks.
Phew, I'm exhausted now.

The greyhounds were going to abandon tomorrow's walk and go fishing instead, the got their sou'westers and oil skins sorted out, but then the saw the weather forecast and thought they might have a little warm weather fishing after the walk.
So see you tomorrow and remember - BE THERE OR BE A PUG
And don't forget the clocks go back so we have an extra hour in bed!

Bertie here is in danger of becoming the last turkey in the shop!
He's a smashing lad, a trifle enthusiastic but that's nothing to worry about. He's been out and about on a few walks and behaved so well.
If you'd like to meet the bundle of happiness that is Bertie he'll be joining our walk on Sunday, 11am at Lydiard park - remember, BE THERE OR BE A PUG.

NEWS ROUNDUP
Ron has had a whirlwind couple of weeks. He had to be returned due to a change of circumstances but was very quickly snapped up by a new family and he's settled in a dream. Everyone who has met him thinks he's wonderful, he even has his own blanket in the local pub. Chin chin.
Elle who was very briefly introduced to the page a few weeks ago had a meet with a prospective new mum who straight away fell in love with her. So today she went on her home check and to meet her prospective new dad and he fell in love with her as well so she'll be moving in after her lady operation later on this month.
Well done Ron and well done Elle.

Well Ron who was reserved at last week's GGGW went for his home visit today. He gave the garden a serious inspection and showed how he can sit like a good lad for a treat. Well done Ron! He'll be moving in on Wednesday, good job he didn't unpack .

It was a bittersweet GGGW with Pauline Anderson's niece and her partner presenting the trophy. If anyone didn't know, Pauline so wanted a dog to make her like whole again. It was only 2 and a half weeks after she adopted Muffin that she died. This is what her niece said as she presented the trophy........

Good afternoon everyone.

Earlier this year, my aunt was completely lost after losing her dog. But then, she rescued a beautiful greyhound. They only had 2½ weeks together before she passed away, but in that short time, this special girl brought her back to life. It gave her pure, complete happiness and made her whole again.
That is the magic of these incredible dogs.

That's why it means the world to our family to see my aunt's name on this trophy today. She would be absolutely overjoyed looking out at all of your gorgeous mutts right now!

Let's celebrate that beautiful bond. It is my absolute honour to present the very first Pauline Anderson memorial trophy to the winner .....
