☘ FULL TIME RESULT | Duncombe Park 1-4 York Shamrocks ☘
The lads continued their perfect start to the season with another away trip to the lovely Hemsley vs Duncombe Park. A tricky pitch to adapt to but we started very well and asserted dominance early. The first goal came from a great bit of individual skill from Scott Pollington Woods (Wubbsy) who squared it for James Gallagher to add to his tally and continue his strong goal scoring record of 6 in a row now. The second chance was on the opposite flank with some great footwork from Jack Overton laying it off for Liam King (Kingy) to dispatch into the bottom left corner. After a few earlier shouts, a penalty was awarded after Yonese Lazrak produced some dazzling footwork before being clattered by 2 of their lads at the same time in the box. Wubbsy stepped up and made no mistake putting it away.
The second half saw much of the same with Shamrocks heavily dominating the game for the most part. A 4th was added by new signing Adam Swords who came on and latched onto a Danny Stannard free kick evading all defenders to fall at Adams feet who then kept his composure and put it past the keeper. A controversial moment soon followed with again Adam bundling the ball into the goal but the ref deemed it to have no crossed the line from his view he had on the half way line to everyone's amusement. Fair play to Duncombe Park who kept plugging on and were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Chris Browne (Browney) got down well to his left to save it but Duncombe Parks number 14 with suspicions of offside was quickest to react heading it into an open net.
Another tricky away day ticked off and we now turn our focus onto cup action next week vs Selby Olympia at home. Thank you to Duncombe Park for their amazing hospitality afterwards and the staff at La Trattoria who provided some absolutely beautiful pizzas in abundance for all. Much appreciated and good luck for your next games.

This weekend sees the lads travel to Helmsley to take on Duncombe Park, a side promoted from the league below and who started their campaign in battling fashion in a narrow defeat vs Acomb FC. We hope to build on our opening day win last week and kick on hopefully with another massive 3 points away from home.

☘ FULL TIME RESULT | Ripon City Res 2-3 York Shamrocks ☘
We start our league campaign with a tough win on the road vs a very talented and energetic Ripon City side.
We started the first half really well and caused their back line all sorts of problems consistently. The deadlock was broken by a fantastic run into the channel by James Gallagher (Gally) who kept composed and squared a ball for Scott Pollington Woods (Wubbsy) to smash home. Shortly after, Gally got onto the scoresheet himself as Wubbsy returned the favour with a lovely flick on putting Gally through with just the keeper to beat. With the angle closing, he rounded the keeper and scored from an extremely tight angle. It wasn't long again until Gally found himself in a forward wide area before again squaring a lovely ball this time for Alessandro Delrio (Sandro) to pounce onto at the back post and fire home from close range.
Full credit to Ripon who didn't down tools after the break and came out full guns blazing. Their first reply was early on in the second half with a cross seemingly destined for the hands of Chris Browne but their very nippy forward somehow managed to get cross and get a toe onto it mid air redirecting the ball into the net. Their next followed shortly after with a Shamrock throw amounting to a turnover deep in the Ripon third. The ball was cleared long and latched onto to be squared to make it 3-2. With 30 mins or so still left the lads had to dig in and it was made even tougher by a sending off, a retaliation kick out, reducing us to 10 men. However, this is where the teams spirit showed as we defended valiantly and with great hunger to see the match out and secure the win in what was a very tricky first fixture!
Thank you to Ripon City AFC for hosting us and for the hospitality afterwards. They've an exciting young team and will no doubt have a very successful season.

☘ LEAGUE OPENER! ☘
Our league campaign begins this weekend with a trip away to Ripon. With a solid preseason under our belt, the lads look forward to and ready for the real stuff on Saturday! Our opponents began their campaign last week with a 4-1 win so we're expecting a tough tests but one we're ready for!

☘ FULL TIME RESULT | York Shamrocks 0-2 Redcar Newmarket ☘
The lads tasted defeat yesterday in the County Cup as we hosted high flying Redcar Newmarket who have scored 23 in their first 3 league games locally.
We knew it was going to be a tough afternoon with several key players missing and us having played a very demanding fixture on Tuesday vs Tadcaster. We lacked any real quality or composure throughout in what was a very scrappy affair but full credit to the lads for battling non stop and keeping it a cagey affair which on another day could have swung our way but yesterday Redcar deserved the win overall.
We dust ourselves off and prepare now for our first league fixture next week vs Ripon City.
Thank you to Redcar Newmarket and hopefully everyone had a safe journey home. We appreciate you staying afterwards for food and a drink! Good luck for the rest of your season and in the next round! ☘

We host Redcar Newmarket FC in some County Cup action today at home. Our visitors look to have had a flying start in their league campaign with ours yet to start so we're expecting a very stiff challenge today but one we welcome!
