First win of the season! With runs on the board thanks to JP (59*) and Priyansh (25), Mikey (2/15) and Jonesy (0/21) delivered the goods with the ball before the rain came. 💪🌧

It was a great start to the season for the Longstops on Friday, with a 71-run win over HKCC Qi Lin at GDB! Fidel anchored the innings (and tormented fine-leg 🤣) retiring on 51, with Bossy (35), Dev (23), and Lourens (20) also making valuable contributions. 😎

The next match for Longstops is on Friday 18 October against the USRC Markhors.

It was not the start to the season we wanted on Saturday, with the match called off due to a wet outfield after Super Typhoon Yagi dumped plenty of rain the day before. ⛈

The next game for Kai Tak is on 28 September against Centaurs CC. 💪

It was not our time last week with two losses. First up the Longstops went down to Asians United. Despite a quality 51 (ret.) from Lourens and 3/21 from Matt, the total was not big enough and the Longstops lost by 4 wickets. 🤏

On Saturday Kai Tak took on the HKCC Witherers at PKVR. Chasing 226, the innings was anchored by Chris who came close to scoring a century with 95*. Ultimately the chase came up 30 runs short. 🫣

Two from two at KCC this season! Brett (52 ret.) and Santosh (36) led the charge with the bat at the top, before quick-fire innings from Sandeep (26 ret.) and Hari (46* 🤏) set up a big total for the Knights to chase. A consistent bowling effort from the majority of the side ensured the chase never looked like succeeding, with 7 bowlers picking up wickets. 🏏

The Longstops are in action again this week against Asian United at GDB. 💪

The first match under lights for The Tak, and a dominant win over the top of the table USRC Tigers. 💪

Well-judged innings from both JP (78*) and Chris (55) set the match up before the bowlers sealed the victory under lights, with standout performances from JP (2/13), Gunner (2/16) and Vish (1/22).

Phew, what a finish! Gunner (2/36) came through at the end to take the final wicket with just 2 runs to spare. 😎

Batting first, the innings started steadily with a 58 run opening stand between Lee (35) and Santosh (23) before Vish (40) built the total through the middle overs. A crucial last wicket partnership from Brett (11*) and Nick (16) pushed the total to 188.

Wickets fell frequently throughout the chase, with Vish picking up 4/19 opening the bowling before Ksh*tij (3/40) came in first change and continued the attack. A final wicket partnership of 83 took the Suryas close, before Gunner trapped the last batsman LBW to finish the match. 💪🏏

What a finish - it was a nail-biting win for the Longstops over the Kowloon Rugby Legends last Friday! Chasing a sizeable total the innings started strong with runs flowing from Santosh (24), Ed (18) and Hari (49) before Ksh*tij (19*) and Simon (6*) brought it home with just one wicket to spare. 😎💪
