A bit of a late post — but better late than never 😄

This SATURDAY (May 23) we are organizing Black Cats in Varaždin — a tournament primarily intended for women players who will compete globally against disc golfers from all over the world.

The PDGA Women Global Event takes place once every two years and connects tournaments worldwide into one global ranking. We already have some great results from Croatia in previous editions:
🏆 In 2021 Kaja Gorički won the Girls Under 6 division
🥈 Jelena Geček finished 2nd in the largest Novice division among more than 500 players
🥉 Ana Gorički took 3rd place in the Junior Under 18 division
🏅 Maja Šimenc finished 4th in the Intermediate division

Hopefully this year we’ll again have around 10 women players and achieve some great global placements.

The tournament is also open to men, who can compete in a single Gold division.

We will play a short 9-hole layout by the Drava river, with two loops played in each round. Hole lengths will range between approximately 45 and 65 metres.

On the past weekend we have round the third edition of the Masterpiece tournament.

The event was organized in cooperation with local partners from Dubrova Sculpture Park, with support from the Labin - Rabac Tourist Board and Valamar. A total of 57 players from Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Serbia and Iceland participated in the competition.

In the lowest Purple division (for players rated up to 800), Neno Šobak (DGK Varaždin) claimed victory among 8 players with a result of +19 relative to course par.
In the middle Green division (for players rated up to 850), Haukur Arnar Árnason (Iceland) won among 7 players with a score of +6 relative to course par.
In the highest Red division (for players rated up to 900), Mario Adžič (Slovenia) won among 16 players with a result of -11 relative to course par.

In the FPO Women’s Open division, 7 competitors participated, with the title won by Barbara Poljšak (Slovenia and FDK Nova Gradiška) with a score of -5 relative to course par. Second place went to Maja Šimenc (DGK Lagoda, Varaždin) with +18, while Katerina Zbytovska (Iceland) finished third with +20.

In the MPO Open division, 19 competitors participated, with the title won by Tomislav Goricki (FDK Zagreb), who completed the course at -19. Second place with -18 went to Gerald Wölbl (Austria), while third place was shared by Domen Juhant (Slovenia) and Marijan Krištofić (Slovenia and DGK Stubaki, Stubičke Toplice) with -17.

Croatian Doubles Championships will be held in Toplice Sveti Martin on June 20 and 21.

Aside of the two official divisions for Croatian male and female doubles we will run a additional division for international male doubles and another division for female international doubles.

❤️ Cupid’s Forester 2026 – Tournament Recap ❤️

The first edition of the Cupid’s Forester tournament was held on February 14–15, 2026 in Varaždin as the opening event of the Croatian Disc Golf League 2026 season.

The event was organized by Lagoda Disc Golf and the Croatian Flying Disc Federation, bringing together 44 players from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, and Serbia.

Participants who secured the early bird entry received tournament souvenirs such as T-shirts, neck warmers, or fleece gloves with the tournament logo and personalization.

The tournament was played over two days with three rounds of 18 holes. Saturday offered ideal conditions – up to 10°C and no wind (some players even walked the course in T-shirts!). Overnight, however, the weather changed dramatically, and Sunday’s final round was played in strong winds (around 9 m/s) and temperatures near 2°C. True Cupid’s Forester style. 🌬️❄️

🔥 Best Rounds

Blaž Petrović shot an incredible -12 in Round 2 (unofficial 1040 rating).
The best women’s rounds were +5 by Ira Molnar Gorički and Tina Šimenc (unofficial 873 rating).

🎯 Ace Pool

Three aces were hit during the event! Kristijan Babić (R1, Hole 3), Tomislav Frković (R2, Hole 3), and Gerald Wölbl (R3, Hole 17).
Babić and Wölbl had paid into the ace pool and split the €75 pot.

🚀 Overachiever Award

The player who performed most above their PDGA rating was Mladen Šop (+54 above rating), followed by Tin Kruhak (+41) and Ivan Klanjčić (+34).

🎁 Raffle winners: Tomislav Gorički, Tomislav Kačavenda, Andreas Trondl, and Aleksandar Bato Sudžuković.

On February 14 & 15 we will run Cupid's Forester, a 1st tournament of the Croatian Disc Golf League for 2026.

Conditions were rather unique, with a crust formed on the snow, causing discs to skip, jump, and slide significantly. Considering that 12 out of 14 baskets are positioned on a slope, many players had difficulties approaching the greens and keeping their discs near the basket after a missed putt.
For the second round, temperatures rose above zero, the snow softened, and long slides were no longer as common.

A total of 34 players from Croatia, Serbia, Austria, and Slovenia joined the event. Apart from the snow, playing conditions were quite good and it was not overly cold.

The Purple division was won by Marko Pavlović (+27), the Green division by Nikola Gruhak (+18) after a sudden-death playoff against Adis Isanović, and the Red division by Miloš Gavrilović (+6).

The overachiever award went to Miloš Gavrilović, who played the event 66 points above his current rating. He was followed by Mario Adžić (39 points above rating) and Dino Harambašić (28 points above rating).

The MPO division was won by Tomislav Gorički (-2), ahead of Domen Juhant (+1), while Dinko Šimenc and Dino Harambašić shared third place with +5.

The FPO division was won by Tina Šimenc (+18), followed by Danica Pajtak (+26) in second place and Conny Hackl (+30) in third.

Yesterday we have run 8th edition of a season ending tournament Merry Forester. 34 players participated and those looking for more Christmas spirit were able to join a Secret Santa gift exchange.

The winners of the event were Conny Hackl in FPO, Domen Juhant in MPO, Tomislav Kačavenda in Red (up to 900), Zoran Krečar in Green (up to 850) and Marko Pavlović in Purple (up to 800).
