๐Ghost pipefish๐
The Ghost Pipefish drift head-down, blending into crinoids, soft corals, or seagrass. They sway with the current, so unless you slow downโฆ youโll miss them.
Theyโre small (around 10โ15 cm), but each species looks totally different, from the leafy Halimeda Ghost Pipefish to the colorful Ornate Ghost Pipefish, and even the subtle Robust Ghost Pipefish and Delicate Ghost Pipefish.
Unlike most fish, itโs the female that carries the eggs, holding them in a special brood pouch formed by her pelvic fins. Males are usually smaller and stay nearby. Youโll often find them in pairs, blending into the reef or sandy bottom, especially in macro-rich areas like Amed and Tulamben.
Slow downโฆ and you might just spot one!ย
