Heart rate training done right

We’re at the stage of the marathon block where people may want to practice more marathon pace runs to see how the body holds up.

For some, that may mean training harder than heart rate zones, working harder than they would like in certain sessions to keep paces. For his HR lines up with his marathon pace effort and he’s able to push on in his training

Coached by our marathon coach this year, , learn more about how Francis is getting on going through the heart rate method in his marathon training, why he’s getting a second test by during his block and much more, in this week’s episode of the Any Given Runday podcast

It was fantastic to have as a guest co-host of the podcast this week as we get closer to the Dublin Marathon

Cliodhna was a part of our original Road To Dublin series last year, talking about her training leading to her first marathon.

Her running has only gone from strength to strength since, including the Limerick Marathon and PB’ing in several shorter races.

But, as she talks about in this reel, there’s something different about the build-up in training to a marathon

Hear more about Cliodhna’s journey on this week’s episode of the Any Given Runday podcast, as well as why she is running the Dublin Marathon this year in support of Make-A-Wish and the difference they make

New episode of our Road To Dublin Marathon series is online now as we catch up with The Incredibles, including how has need getting on since our last episode

Like Dee, there are plenty of people with niggles and forced time off as the Dublin Marathon gets closer. Goals change. There’s different expectations and that’s ok. A marathon block rarely goes smooth and some are going to be better than others

Progress, especially in the marathon, is not always linear.

See how all our Incredibles are getting on by listening to this week’s episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or watching on YouTube

Eric’s Top Three Training Tips for the Dublin Marathon

At our gait analysis event in , Eric gave his tips on how to get the most from your marathon training

1️⃣ Practice Your Fueling in your training

Don’t wait until race day to see what fuel works best for you

2️⃣ Footwear

At Decathlon, we found out how we ran and which running shoes we responded to best through their gait analysis testing. Some thrive on carbons, some get injured using them!

3️⃣ Kit & Equipment

Never try anything new on race day. What running shorts will you use to carry your fuel? Do you chafe in your current running gear? Do you blister on long runs in your socks? Don’t wait until race day and only think about the race day pics. You can look good and still be practical about what works for you!

Check out Decathlon’s running gear and make sure you’re race ready before race day!

was set up by this week’s guest on the Any Given Runday podcast .mcclintock after the loss of his two close friends, Olly and Honor, to su***de

In the first 20 minutes of our interview with Paddy, he opens up on why he set up Check In On A Mate, their talks in schools and universities and to double down on when you’re asking someone how they are. Because they might seem on on the surface.

They raise awareness around mental health and su***de through campaigns, challenges, and social media — getting people talking and breaking down the stigma.

Some can run forever.
Some can pace like a metronome.
Some know every route in town.
Some know everyone at the start line. 😂

We all have our thing.

👇 Tell us yours in the comments. What's your running superpower?

Behind every runner is a training plan, a questionable amount of mileage, and some very good people along the way. 😂

Big thanks to Decathlon Ireland , ALTAR , Muscle Recovery | Healthy Skin | Wellness and Health Matters (Seán Kinane | Health Matters) for being part of Road to Dublin Season 2.
