🏁Ballinrobe U17 Match Report
Ballinrobe 61 - 17 Gort
The lads were out again this morning in the green and eventually ran out winners against a resolute Gort side.
Going in at half time pretty evenly matched with Luke Duddy & Padraig Mylotte crossing the whitewash, the boys emerged in the second half and capitalised on any loose ball and handling errors. Another hat trick from the powerful and speedy center David Stan , a lovely show and go score from Scrum half Owen Heneghan and Duddy & Mylotte going over again. The boys were now in full control. Captain & Ho**er Shane Horan with a Dan Sheehan esq sprint to the line.
In fairness to Gort they tried to the end and never dropped the heads. Having a mix of 16’s & 17’s they probably deserved a few more scores.
The lads did super with stand in 10, Cillian Wilson leading the line and stand In 7 Karl Gorman putting them under serious pressure.
Adam Moffett, Shane Horan, Robert Flannery, Ryan Sweeney, Luke o Reilly, Luke Duddy, Padraig Mylotte, Karl Gorman, Owen Heneghan, Cillian Wilson, David Stan, Padraig foley, Tadgh Foley & Cian Joyce.
🏁Ballinrobe U14s Edge Connemara/Oughterard in a Thrilling Encounter
Rugby was the real winner today as Ballinrobe U14s pulled off a dramatic 21-19 victory over a strong and well-organized Connemara/Oughterard side in almost perfect conditions at home.
Connemara took control early, crossing the line twice to go 12-0 up. Despite limited possession, Ballinrobe’s defense, led by Cillian Lydon at No. 8, stood firm, keeping the game within reach. The few chances Ballinrobe had in the first half showcased exciting runs from center partners Sean O’Malley and Mark O’Malley, who linked beautifully to keep the crowd entertained. A strong scrum midway through the half laid the platform for Mark O’Malley to power through and score in the corner, narrowing the gap. With Cillian O’Connor adding the extras, it was 12-7 at halftime.
The second half was all Ballinrobe. Dominating possession, Thomas Mellet Jennings turned the tide with two thunderous tries, each showcasing his raw power and determination. Cillian O’Connor’s impeccable kicking proved decisive, converting to seal the victory.
The entire team stood tall today. From Tadhg Murphy’s fearless tackling to the hard graft of second rows Matthew and Tristan, everyone played their part. Fionn Jennings kept things tidy at scrum half, while Sean Horan and Johnny McGrath anchored a dominant scrum that gave Ballinrobe the edge when it mattered most.
The victory was a real team effort, with every player contributing to a fantastic win against tough opposition. Next up: Ballyhaunis!
Final Score: Ballinrobe 21 – 19 Connemara/Oughterard.

Our U15 boys travelled to Clifden on Saturday afternoon to play a combined Connemara/Oughterard team.
What a great day for playing rubgy, nice grass, lovely weather and a wind straight down the pitch. Shame we had no luck to go with it.
Lads did really well to keep a well drilled connemara team from going over the line more times than the score line suggests finishing at 26-0.
Our tackling and going forward was immense, we just missed the final pass or a little rub of the green.
All the coaches were very proud of the lads and want to once again thank the traveling parents and families for the support on the sidelines.
All over in the Green and a late try wins it for us.. well done lads! 👏🏁
