💫 March MATness - Week 5 - The Finale 💫

We’ve reached the final chapter of the classical mat — strength, precision, and flow coming full circle. These last exercises remind us how far we’ve come through every roll, twist, and lift.

2️⃣9️⃣ Rocking – Opens the front of the body, strengthens the back, and encourages length and vitality through the spine.
3️⃣0️⃣ Control Balance – Tests core control, flexibility, and grace. A perfect blend of strength and poise.
3️⃣1️⃣ Push Ups – The mat ends as it began — with power, alignment, and full-body connection. Strength built from control, not force.
✨ As March MATness came to a close, remember: the beauty of Pilates lies in progress, not perfection. Every repetition, every breath, moves you closer to mastery. 🩷
🌿 Keep showing up, keep refining, keep feeling the transformation. Whether you’re working toward the full repertoire or deepening your understanding of each move — you’re already doing the work. 🤗
💛 Join me at Return to Life Pilates to keep exploring the classical method — one movement, one breath at a time.

💫 March MATness - Week 4 💫
Flow, strength, and precision come together this week as we dive into full-body control and dynamic movement. These exercises bring agility, lift, and seamless flow from the mat’s foundation.

2️⃣2️⃣ Hip Twist – Builds control and stability through the powerhouse while challenging coordination and rotational strength.
2️⃣3️⃣ Swimming – Strengthens the entire back body, opens the chest, and promotes extension and energy through every limb.
2️⃣4️⃣ Leg Pull Front – Tests upper-body and core stability while maintaining long, lifted lines in plank control.
2️⃣5️⃣ Leg Pull Back – Opens the front body, strengthens glutes and hamstrings, and challenges shoulder strength and balance.
2️⃣6️⃣ Side Kick Kneeling – Engages obliques, hips, and shoulders in a dynamic challenge of balance and control.
2️⃣7️⃣ Side Bend – Builds lateral strength, shoulder stability, and elegance through full-body integration.
2️⃣8️⃣ Boomerang – Combines strength, flexibility, and flow — fusing elements from previous exercises into one smooth sequence.
2️⃣9️⃣ Seal & Crab – Playful yet precise, these rolling exercises massage the spine, challenge coordination, and build connection through rhythm and control.
🌿 Strength, stretch, and control — the essence of classical Pilates in motion.

💫 March MATness - Week 3 🙌🏻💫

Strength, precision, and lift — this week we move into deeper core work and powerful spinal articulation. Every exercise refines control and grace from the center.
1️⃣5️⃣ Neck Pull – A challenging version of the Roll Up that builds strong abdominals and length through the spine — power with precision.
1️⃣6️⃣ Scissors & Bicycle (low and high) – Deeply strengthen the core and stretch the legs and hips. The high version adds advanced control, balance, and flexibility.
1️⃣7️⃣ Shoulder Bridge – Opens the front body while strengthening the glutes, hamstrings, and spinal mobility.
1️⃣8️⃣ Spine Twist – Enhances posture, control, and spinal rotation — creating freedom through lift and stability.
1️⃣9️⃣ Jack Knife – A powerhouse move for strength, balance, and articulation through the entire spine.
2️⃣0️⃣ Side Kick Series – Builds hip stability, leg strength, and precision of movement. Energy radiates through the limbs from a strong center.
2️⃣1️⃣ Teaser – The ultimate test of control and balance — integrating strength, breath, and flow in one iconic Pilates shape.

🌟 Every rep is a reminder: control creates strength, and flow creates freedom.

🙋🏼‍♀️ RTLP Team update 😃💫

We’re delighted to welcome Siân Brown to the Return to Life Pilates teaching team! 🤗
Siân discovered Pilates in her twenties after being diagnosed with hypermobility, and it quickly became a life-changing practice—helping her build strength, ease pain, and improve mobility. After nearly a decade of practice, she turned her passion into teaching, sharing the benefits of movement that support both body and mind.😌
Siân will be taking over our Monday evening Reformer class along with two Mat classes for the moment. 🙃
We can’t wait for you to enjoy her classes and experience her thoughtful, empowering approach to Pilates. 🙌🏻☺️

🙋🏼‍♀️ Spinal Flexion Series with Ring

Controlled forward flexion to lengthen the posterior chain, decompress the spine, and strengthen deep core stabilizers.
This sequence moves through Spine Stretch Forward, Seated Saw, Spine Twist Supine, Roll Over & Corkscrew - each targeting spinal articulation and core engagement from different positions. The Pilates ring adds resistance to challenge the powerhouse and enhance proprioceptive feedback.
Forward flexion work stretches the erector spinae, activates the abdominals, and promotes spinal mobility. But balance is key - extension exercises would/will follow next to ensure muscular equilibrium and spinal health ⚖️
