EKF supports the 7th European Ladies seminar in Tallinn, Estonia, led by Fujita Hiromi sensei!

This past weekend we held our autumn seminar led by Peter D'Hont Kyoshi 7th Dan. This was a special seminar in which both kendo and iado members of our dojo practiced together sharing knowledge from both disciplines.

We made a little bit of history here on the island of Ireland with our first joint Kendo and Iaido seminar! Both seminars ran alongside each other, with all levels taking part—from complete beginners to experienced practitioners—and everyone coming together for a shared Kendo Kata session.

A huge thank you to all our visiting Sensei from Belgium Peter D'hont Lisa Van Laecken Nicolas Pauwelyn Pierre-Henri Van de Velde for the planning and preparation that went into making this such a great event, and for sharing your time, knowledge and enthusiasm with us. There were so many inspiring moments. You’ve given us plenty to work on and plenty of motivation to get back to the dojo!

One of the highlights of the weekend was the women-only Kendo session with Lisa Van Laecken Sensei and Rachel Buysse Sensei. Their teaching, the atmosphere they created and the way they worked together made it a brilliant experience for our women kendoka.

It was great to have dojo from across Ireland represented. A special shout-out to the Galway Kendo Club members for making the journey, bringing such great energy and contributing so much to the seminar, and to Cork Budokai Kendo Dojo dojo for travelling and giving the event such tremendous support.

We also have a new Kendo dojo opening soon in Waterford Argyris Kanakis Ryusui Ken—more good news for our community!
And a particularly big thank you to Carlos M. Tuta and Batman O'Brien and Kathryn Cassidy for all the work behind the scenes that made this happen. We don’t have medals for organising, but we hope you like the Belgian chocolates and high five! 🍫

Last weekend members of Dublin Kendo Kobukai represented the club at the 40th Anniversary Turku Spring Seminar, led by Masayuki Miyasaka Kyoshi 8th Dan, Akihisa Tatsumi Kyoshi 8th Dan and several other esteemed Sensei representing the Finnish Kendo Federation.
