Great day for the u12s in both track and field events. Super running in the 60m and 600m by both the girls and boys. Cian placing 3rd with a brilliant race. The highlight this morning for this group was the throw events with James winning in the shotputt and Rachel winning in javelin and Sophie coming 3rd.
All looking fwd to the next weekend.

Next up were the u11s on day 2 in Navan.
In the first heat of the girls' 600m, Alannah went out hard and led from the gun to take a hugely impressive win by quite a margin. Siún, in the same heat, had a great last 100m, moving up a few places and finishing with her customary big smile. In the second heat Mabel showed real fight all the way around to finish a fantastic second in a very competitive heat. Áine positioned herself really well in the pack from the start and had a great race, moving steadily up through the field. When the results were computed, Alannah topped the podium with the gold medal and Mabel taking the bronze 🥇🥉 Áine, Mabel and Siún also threw well in the turbo javelin.
In the boys 600m, Adam was in the first heat and ran a great race to finish runner up in his heat. He really is incredibly consistent and is always in the mix in his races. Unfortunately, today he was just edged off the podium and finished in 4th overall. Tobyn ran in the second heat today and as always gave 100% in a very fast heat. He finished well up in the placings in this heat. Both lads also had good throws in the TJ.
So proud of these athletes today, showing up and giving their all. Maith sibh💙🤍

A very successful today in Navan for the under u10s in the second day of the Meath Championships. We dominated the podium for the turbo javelin for the girls with Sadhbh placing 1st, Alexanne 2nd and Juliet 3rd. We also had a well fought 3rd place in the 500m for Abi,the longest track race we’ve had yet. Everyone threw and ran well today and are looking forward to being back there next weekend! Well done everyone.

Day 1 of the Meath Outdoor Championships kicked off last night with the hammer competition, hosted by the always-welcoming Fr. Murphy's Athletic Club. Our Dunboyne AC juveniles and juniors delivered excellent performances and brought home several well-deserved medals.
In the U18 competition, Kate Barrett and Aimee Holohan secured a gold and silver sweep for Dunboyne, with both girls throwing new PBs. In the U16s, Ethan Smith earned a hard-fought bronze medal. Meanwhile, the U15 boys’ event saw a thrilling battle between Fr. Murphy's Paddy McGovern and our own Jack Barrett, with Jack just pipping Paddy to the post for the win. Rounding out a great night, Matthew Cutliffe took home bronze in his championship debut, throwing a massive PB in the process.

It was a weekend to remember for the Cornyn family, as Niall was crowned the National Duathlon Champion for a third time on Sunday, in Phoenix Park.
Successfully defending the title he won for a second time last year, Niall completed the 5km run, 21km cycle and 2.5km run in just under 56 minutes, having over two minutes to spare against the rest of the field.
Michael Cornyn followed in his son's footsteps, with a top-four finish in his age category, completing a memorable day for the family.
On the far side of the country, at the Connemara Half Marathon, Emer Madden, Elaine Donovan and Lisa Stewart all ran on one of Ireland's most scenic routes, with reports of a larger group making the trip next year, such was the fun that was had on route. Congrats to all three!
