In 2015, you all joined my dance class as little children, taking your first steps in Bharatanatyam. Today, through hard work and dedication, you have grown into confident dancers and are ready for your Senior Grade Examination.
Watching your journey and seeing our bond grow over the years fills me with pride and happiness. Wishing you all confidence, grace, and success. Make me proud!

Where the threshold of the temple first became classroom, where sculptures seemed to step down and dance to the chimes of the bells.

Kavyashree Nagaraj was born into the corridors of the sacred — granddaughter of Shri. T. S Narayana Shastri, head priest at the ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple at the foot of Nandi Hills. Her father, Shri. T.N Nagaraj, serves at the Yoganandeeshwara Temple atop the same hills. The rituals, the hymns, the freezes carved into temple plinths — all of it became her first dance vocabulary. For twenty years, she has trained under Karnataka Kalashree Guru Dr. Suparna Venkatesh in Bharatanatyam and Karnataka Kalashree Guru Mysore B Nagaraj in Kathak. Her art also deepened under the guidance of renowned Guru Dr. Maya Rao. A professional dancer and choreographer, Kavyashree moves between two dance forms with the fluidity of someone who understands that all classical art is one continuous devotion.

Tonight at Bekal Gokulam Goushala, her group performance becomes an offering laid at the feet of Goumata and Lord Krishna. The open sky, the presence of cows grazing near the stage, the salt wind from the Arabian Sea — all of it mirrors the sacred simplicity of the temple courtyards where her feet first learned rhythm. What began at the foot of a hill returns tonight to the earth and the divine gaze of the cow.

We are grateful to have witnessed this offering. If these images speak to you, we invite you to share them — let the presence of Goumata and the devotion she inspires reach farther than the stage. Bekal Gokulam Goushala holds space for art that does not perform — it serves.
