After the pitch comes the long road to the screen… Every year, BBPostHouse offers their support to one project on its way to the finish.

Since 2019, the year Baltic Sea Docs first began presenting awards, BBPostHouse has been one of our award partners, offering post-production services worth €3,000.

BBPostHouse is one of the most experienced film post-production companies in the Baltics, offering the full post-production cycle as well as digitisation and restoration of film and video materials. This matters for documentaries: many rely on archival film and video footage that needs restoring before it can be used, yet few post-production houses offer this service.

This year, at our 30th anniversary edition, the BBPostHouse Award went to “Going Underground” by Armands Začs (Latvia/Estonia/Finland), produced by Mistrus Media. BBposthouse also joined our Meet the Industry Guests roundtable to present their services to documentary filmmakers.

In the photos – this year’s winners along with the two previous award recipients – “Threads of My Ancestors”, dir. Carlos E. Lesmes (Estonia, 2025) and “Sacred Songs”, dir. Nona Giunashvili (Georgia, 2024).

"Where did the time go?"

Preparing the Baltic Sea Docs 30th anniversary newspaper was an opportunity to look back carefully – gathering data, tracing project trajectories and seeing the forum as it has unfolded over three decades.

We got to count that Baltic Sea Docs has brought together 668 projects from 41 countries and 510 decision makers (with YLE present for all 30 editions! 👏).

Beyond the numbers, the newspaper features reflections from Zane Krūmiņa, Lelda Ozola, and Tue Steen Müller (the only person who has been part of every single edition! ❤), a detailed timeline from Bornholm 1997 to Riga 2026, highlighted films from across the decades, and voices from filmmakers and industry professionals on what BSD has meant to them.

◤2027 FIPADOC INTERNATIONAL PITCHES: CALL FOR PROJECTS

Fund your project! Now you can be among the 24 teams selected to pitch at the Fipadoc International Pitches and present your next documentary to a large group of international funders, distributors and co-producers.

If you are selected to pitch at Fipadoc, you will take part in an online booster workshop before coming to the pitch, run by international pitching experts to sharpen your pitch strategy and presentation. The Fipadoc International Pitches conclude with an awards ceremony celebrating the 24 selected projects.

📅Deadline: October 2, 2026

🌍 The 2027 edition focus highlights the Black Sea countries! Filmmakers from Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine benefit from a discount on their submission, and filmmakers from Palestine can submit their project for free.

OPEN CALL | TiDF is among the most important documentary festivals in Europe and an Oscars® documentary feature qualifying festival, celebrating the art of documentary via a rich program of films, events, initiatives and the Agora Doc Market, a lively hub for film professionals.

The Festival has four competition sections: Feature Length International Competition, Newcomers International Competition, >>Film Forward International Competition and Immersive: All around cinema International Competition.

Submission dates are as follows:

🦜Early bird submissions are open until September 18th, 2026 with an entry fee of 40 euros for each submission.

🫡 From September 19th on, submissions will be open until November 30th, 2026 with an entry fee of 60 euros.

🕑The deadline for submissions is November 30th, 2026.

🏆Please note that the film that wins the Golden Alexander award will automatically be eligible to submit for Academy Awards consideration in the Documentary Feature category.
