🐦 BLUE BIRDS MAKE IT 4 WINS IN A ROW 💙

Last night the Blue Birds took on Jhapa in what promised to be a clash of two top teams. The momentum swung both ways early on with chances at either end, before Jhapa opened the scoring with a counter attack. The Blues responded quickly however, as Jurgen Grech pulled one back with a brilliant solo goal, his second in 2 games, to take a 1-1 score into half time.

With the game hanging in the balance, the boys in blue kept applying pressure till late in the game, when a Sansone corner found club top scorer Luke Mifsud at the back post to slot home for the victory.

A massive win over title contenders, well deserved after all the boys put in a marathon shift. This puts the Birds into 4th place with 2 games in hand an an eye on the top spot.

📆 The Thrushes go again on Tuesday against Verdala Stars as they look to turn this winning streak into 5 consecutive games.

💙 STATEMENT WIN FOR THE BLUE BIRDS 🐦

The Blue Birds took an important step last night, moving to third place after a victory against Black Shadows.

The Blues got rolling early, with right back Kieran Ferry grabbing his first and second ever goals for the club in quick succession. Black Shadows did manage to pull one back but Jake Chetcuti then delivered a brilliant solo goal to retake the lead. The floodgates opened from there as Jurgen Grech converted a free kick and Andy Spiteri pounced on a chance to make the half time score 5-1.

Spiteri continued where he left off, grabbing 2 more goals in the second half to complete his hat trick. Zak Farrugia added another late goal to compile the opponents’ misery and end the game 8-2.

📆 Another in a string of important games comes next as the Blues take on a familiar foe in Jhapa FC, who sit one point behind in the standings.

🐦 BLUES HOLD ON LATE TO GET WITHIN 1 POINT OF FIRST 💙

The Blue Birds were back in action last night against Kukkajni FC in a very even clash which would see the winner end the day 1 point off the top of the table.

The first half was all Blue with club top scorer Luke Mifsud bagging a brace off of well worked team goals to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Kukkajni then surged back to life in the second half, scoring early and keeping possession for the majority of the remaining time. The Blues dug deep and held on, with the back line making more than a few last ditch challenges and goalkeeper Mike Micallef making some signature big saves to end the game 2-1.

📆 Next week promises more of the same with an encounter against Black Shadows, also on 15 points and looking to leap into 1st place.

🐦 BLUE BIRDS BACK TO WINNING WAYS 💙

The Boys in Blue ended their 2 game losing streak last night with a hard-fought victory over Sliema Warriors. A back and forth affair saw goals from Barthet and Mifsud matched by the opposition to keep the score at 2-2 till late in the game, when new signing Adam Bradshaw rounded the keeper to take the lead. Zak Farrugia then netted his first of the season after returning from a long spell abroad to end the game 4-2.

As special shoutout to goalkeeper Mike Micallef who put in another man of the match performance. This victory has placed the Blues provisionally into 2nd place.

📆 Next game promises to be another thriller as we face Kukkani, level on points and both aiming to cut the lead on 1st place.
