A massive congratulations to Quinn Thorby on being selected for the Waikato U16 Girls team a couple of weeks ago!

Quinn has been out on the field representing our Kereone U15 Girls this season in our Girls only Rugby Series, and we think it’s pretty awesome to see one of our girls taking that next step and representing Waikato.
Awesome achievement Quinn! 🩷🤍💚

🩷🏆 LYNDIE PICKETT MEMORIAL CUP WINNER 🏆🩷

A huge congratulations to Bree Harrison, our very first recipient of the Lyndie Pickett Memorial Cup!

Throughout the series, Bree showed exactly what this award is all about. She displayed amazing sportsmanship, always supported and encouraged her teammates, gave everything a go and played with a great attitude. She showed courage on the field, respect towards her teammates, coaches and opposition, and was always willing to put the team first. 💚🩷🤍

Bree represented Kereone with pride and showed that being a great rugby player is about so much more than what happens with the ball in your hands.

What an amazing night we had last Wednesday celebrating our Kereone girls and an incredible 2026 Girls Rugby season!
The clubrooms were packed, and it was pretty special seeing so many players, families, coaches and supporters there celebrating our girls.
A huge thank you to the Waikato Rugby FPC players who joined us for the night and helped present our awards, CowManager NZ for backing our girls this season and how cool was the special video message from some very special Black Ferns!

We are so proud of every single girl who pulled on a Kereone jersey this season. The confidence, friendships, skills and love for rugby we have seen grow throughout the series has been awesome!

What a season. What a group of girls. And we’re only getting started! 🩷🤍💚

GO THE GIRLS!

With our Girls Rugby Series coming to an end, we’re excited to come together and celebrate all of our girls this Wednesday night at our Girls Rugby Prizegiving.

As we continue to grow Girls Rugby at Kereone, we’re incredibly proud to introduce a special new award 🏆
The Lyndie Pickett Memorial Cup – Junior Girls Sportsperson Award

This award will recognise a Girl who demonstrates great sportsmanship, commitment, courage, teamwork and respect, while showing true mana both on and off the field.

The cup has been kindly donated by Kereone Life Member Jack Pickett and is named in memory of his late wife, Lyndie Pickett, a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Kereone Rugby & Sports Club.
Lyndie watched her three sons come through Junior Rugby at Kereone, with all three going on to represent our Senior team. That family connection continues today, with two of her sons involved in coaching junior rugby, including Paul, who has been helping coach our U9 Girls team, and her three grandsons currently representing Kereone in our junior grades.

With the Pickett family having such a strong rugby history and being very much a boy-dominated rugby family. We think it’s pretty special that Lyndie’s name will now be carried forward through our Kereone girls. 🩷🤍💚

Some of our Kereone girls got to be on Ball Girl duties for the Waikato U16 Girls today at FMG Stadium Waikato! 🙌

Awesome to see some of our girls getting the opportunity to be right amongst the action! 💚🤍🩷
