Not the result we wanted, but a massive thank you to everyone who came out to McLean Park and got behind Auckland FC 🖤💙

It was awesome to have A-League football in Napier, and to see McLean Park doing what it does best, hosting big sporting events and bringing people together. A game like this also gives visitors another reason to spend time in Napier and explore what the wider region has to offer.

Hawke’s Bay got its first taste of Auckland FC today.

Local football fans packed into McLean Park for open training, getting an up-close look at the A-League champions, meeting the players and grabbing a few signatures along the way.

NZ football broadcaster and pundit Goran Paladin was also on hand, adding a bit of expert football chat to the afternoon.

Tomorrow, it gets serious.

With the reigning champions making their Napier debut on Saturday, here’s what’s happening across the weekend and how you can get behind the team while they’re in the Bay 💙🖤

FRIDAY 18 SEPT | GET IN BEHIND THE CHAMPIONS
Want to see the team before they hit the park on match day? Auckland FC will be training at McLean Park from 11am–12pm. Come down and watch the champions put in the work, then stick around afterwards for a signing session with the players.

SATURDAY 19 SEPT | MAKE A DAY OF IT
12PM | NAPIER CITY ROVERS v PALMERSTON NORTH UNITED
Get to McLean Park early and catch the curtainraiser as Napier City Rovers take on Palmerston North United. Grab some food, find your spot and settle in for an afternoon of football before Auckland FC take the field.

3PM | AUCKLAND FC v WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS
Then it’s time for the main event. Auckland FC are making their McLean Park debut against Western Sydney Wanderers, bringing the reigning A-League champions to Napier for the first time. Bring the crew, get your tickets sorted and come along for what should be a cracking afternoon at the park.
