The Athletic Marist Rugby Club would like to extend our deepest condolences to our rugby brothers and sisters at the Old Boys Rugby Club for the loss of an extremely popular and respected Life Member Warren “Skippy” Bloxsam.
Skippy’s loss will be felt right around the district and especially the local rugby community with his involvement in teams throughout the wider North Otago Rugby scene, but the Old Boys Club was always where he had his biggest impact and was his passion.
He was always enthusiastic and quick to lend a hand no matter which Club you were affiliated with, no matter the games result, and his friendly nature and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone was something incredible.
He was the perfect man to welcome new players to the district and I know that his genuine friendship and generosity to many people and players will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts go out to Trish, Lucy, Ben, and Finn, along with the many other family and friends that are dealing with an immeasurable loss at this difficult time.
As Skippy himself would have done for anyone involved at any Club, and has he did many times in Athies, raise a glass to the man himself and offer up a hearty “Old Boys!” to acknowledge a great man!
Rest easy Skip! 😔
❤️🖤 FOREVER AN OLD BOY – REST IN PEACE, SKIPPY 🖤❤️
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Oamaru Old Boys Rugby Football Club acknowledges the passing of one of our treasured Life Members, Warren “Skippy” Bloxsom, who passed away peacefully this weekend, surrounded by his loving family.
Skippy was more than just a member of our club. He was part of its heart and soul.
For decades, Skippy dedicated countless hours of his life to the Old Boys Rugby Football Club and the wider Oamaru rugby community. His loyalty, commitment and unwavering passion for the game and our club are something that will never be forgotten.
Clubs like ours are built on the shoulders of people like Skippy. People who give their time, their energy and their hearts, not for recognition or reward, but simply for the love of the club and the people within it.
His contribution cannot be measured in years alone, but in the lives he touched, the friendships he made and the legacy he leaves behind.
While we mourn the loss of a true Old Boys stalwart, we also celebrate a life dedicated to something bigger than himself.
On behalf of everyone at the Oamaru Old Boys Rugby Football Club, past and present, we extend our deepest love, thoughts and condolences to Trish, Lucy, Ben, Finn and the rest of his family and friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thank you, Skippy, for everything you have given our club and our community. Your service, dedication and loyalty will forever be part of our history.
Once an Old Boy, Always an Old Boy. ❤️🖤
Rest easy, Skippy. Your work here is done, but your legacy will live on.
