It is with great sadness that Excelsior has lost a special member, Anne H**e.

Known for her great cheese roll skills in the early years, Anne and her husband Robbie ran the canteen at Centennial Park as well as the Excelsior kitchen.

Anne was the secretary in 1986 for centennial committee.

To Robbie and the family, our greatest condolences and thank you for sharing Anne with us.

As Fijian Language Week and Fiji Day celebrations wrap up, we want to give a shout out to our Fijian club family! 🇫🇯💙

Excelsior and our local Fijian community share a connection that goes well beyond rugby. Our Fijian players, families and supporters are a huge part of who we are, and we’re proud to celebrate the language and culture that mean so much to them.

To everyone pulling on the blue jersey, cheering from the sidelines and helping out behind the scenes, thank you!! Your commitment, friendship and support make Excelsior the club we all love.

We might be a day late with our post, but our appreciation carries on all year. Vinaka vakalevu, fam! 💙🖤

Although Stefan Mavor wasn’t an Excelsior man specifically, he was a true pillar of our wider rugby community.

His dedication to refereeing and the countless hours he gave to the game helped make North Otago rugby what it is. His legacy will live on through the many people he supported, mentored and shared the field with over the years.

We will greatly miss Stefan’s humour, warmth and unmistakable brightness on our sidelines.

Our deepest condolences go to Stefan’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that you will always have a rugby family standing behind you and a place within our clubrooms.

Rest easy, Stefan. Your contribution to our game will never be forgotten.
