We're about to start work on our changing room upgrade, so come lend a hand with some demolition work this Saturday. Bbq and light refreshments available after.

Finals time for our Netball girls! Excelsior Black will play off for 3rd/4th, and Excelsior Blue playing for 5th/6th.

As a club we're so proud of everyone for this year and wish both sides good luck in their finals.

Today we honor a great club man, Sammy Talanoa, who passed away on Tuesday 25th August.

Sammy joined Excelsior on his arrival to New Zealand to play senior rugby, which he achieved with distinction. Winning his first Citizen Shield in 1987, where he played a key role in the clubs success.

Sammy played over 300 games for Excelsior and is one of the very few who can say he won the Citizen Shield three times while playing. Sammy went on to represent North Otago rugby for 35 games as well during this time.

After his playing days, Sammy took leadership in coaching and mentoring young players within the club. More of late, Sammy was a proud supporter and to see his face in recent years when Excelsior won the Citizens Shield you could see how ecstatic and proud he was to be part of Excelsior.

We would like to extend our condolences to Sammy’s family and friends. We will sure miss Sammy up at Excelsior.

Don't forget that junior rugby gear can be returned to our clubrooms this Sunday August 30th. We'll have a box available from 10am-6pm outside the clubrooms. So if you have any junior rugby gear that needs to be returned, head along and put it in the box.

Bit of late mail from the Netball desk, truth is we're still trying to get over our superstar Beth Tremlett leaving us in our time of need. A big thank you to Beth, for your dedication this season and we will definitely miss you for our finals.

Last weekend we had our race day, another great fundraiser. And it wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors who get in behind us. If you guys can get in and support these businesses as they are what really keep our clubs moving. Also a big thanks to those that came along really made the night. 🔵⚫️🔵
