When Central Cricket Club and Bay of Plenty Indian Sports Club - Cricket joined forces to create a strong Rotorua Premier team, Bharat was a big part of these years and we were lucky to have him involved. He’s a cracking bloke and we wish him all the best for the next chapter.

After 82 first-class matches, 22 List A appearances and 5,428 first-class runs, Bharat Popli has announced his retirement from professional cricket.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Leon McKnight.

At this time, we lower our bats in respect and send our heartfelt condolences to the McKnight whānau, the Geyser Cricket Club, and all who knew Leon.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026 Cenral Cricket Club celebrated its 80th Jubilee, a roaring success. The room was filled with past and present players, and special guest, Ken Rutherford. We also celebrated our prizegiving that night also.

It’s semi-final time for our Our Backyard Pub Central Seniors, who head to Rex Morpeth Park to take on Whakatāne Rangatahi in the Lakelands Championship 💥

Plenty on the line, so get along and show your support as the lads push for a spot in the final 🙌

Then on Sunday, it’s a clash of experience and good banter as our Central Oldies face off with the Geyser Googlies at Smallbone Park, kicking off at 11am 😎
