EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

SENIOR MEN’S COACHING 2027

Be part of the next chapter at Silverdale Rugby.

Silverdale Rugby is calling for Expressions of Interest from coaches who would like to be part of our Senior Men’s Coaching Group for the 2027 season.

Silverdale is a proud, ambitious and hugely successful community rugby club with a strong player base and pathway stretching from our junior grades right through to Premier rugby.

As we head into 2027, we’re taking the opportunity to reconnect with the foundations of who we are as a Club, strengthening our coaching structure, our player pathway and the culture that connects our senior grades.

At the heart of that direction are our D.A.L.E. values:

D — Diversity
A — Ambition
L — Loyalty
E — Enjoyment

These values will help shape the environment we want across Senior Rugby, one where players and coaches are supported to develop to their highest potential, where success is pursued together, and where commitment, fairness, integrity, respect and enjoyment remain at the centre of what we do.

For 2027, we want our senior grades from U19 through to Premier 1 working together as one connected programme, creating clear pathways for our players and opportunities for coaches to develop and progress alongside them.

We’re looking for coaches who want to contribute to that vision.

Whether you’re an experienced senior coach or an ambitious coach ready to take the next step, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and be part of building the next chapter of Senior Rugby at Silverdale.

TANE SOLOMON APPOINTED PREMIER HEAD COACH FOR 2027

Silverdale United Rugby & Sports Club is very proud to announce the appointment of Tane Solomon as our Premier Head Coach for the 2027 season.

Tane is no stranger to Dale, and we feel incredibly lucky to have someone with his experience, character and genuine connection to the Club stepping into the Premier role.

Known for his calm approach and steady nerves, Tane has built an outstanding record with our U85s, guiding the side to three consecutive North Harbour Championships and, in 2026, taking it one step further by claiming the National U85 Championship.

But beyond the Silverware, Tane brings a real passion for developing players, building strong team culture, and creating an environment where people want to be part of the journey.

As Premier Head Coach, Tane will work closely with our wider Senior Rugby coaching group to continue strengthening the connection across our grades, developing our player pathways, and building a competitive and connected Senior Rugby programme for 2027 and beyond.

We’re incredibly excited to see Tane take this next step with the Club and can’t wait to see what he and the wider coaching team bring to the season ahead.

Congratulations Tane, we’re very lucky to have you leading the way. Bring on 2027!

Here's few words from Tane;

Firstly, I would like to thank the board for the faith and support, I feel I’m in the unique position after coaching multiple teams at the club, to understand the different perspectives and how they translate to the clubs’ overall vision for the future.

Understanding is the easy part, putting to action is where the hard work begins and I will be working hard for all Players, Coaches, Supporters and the Club to reach our overall goals.

I’m genuinely excited about working with the talent we have here on the Coast, there's a unique brand of rugby to be discovered at the Dale. If we stay together and trust what we can build on, success won't be far away.

This is a paid, hands-on, relationship-focused role for someone passionate about grassroots rugby and creating clear opportunities for local players to develop, stay connected to the game and progress through Silverdale Rugby.

Dear Silverdale Rugby Community,

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Harry Abraham early last Thursday morning.

Harry gave a great deal to Silverdale United Rugby & Sports Club over many years. He served on the Board across a number of terms, including as Director of Operations in 2014, and represented the club at Council of Clubs level.

He was also our inaugural video analyst. Harry began filming the Premiers in 2013 and continued in that role right through until 2018, when I took it over from him. Much of what we do now with video at the club started with him and a camera on the sideline.
Away from Silverdale, Harry was Head of Department for Graphics and Technology at Orewa College from 1991 until he retired in 2013 and managed several rugby teams between 2002 and 2006. A lot of players and students in this community came through under his watch.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Jacki and his children Alex, Brad and Nikki. Our love and thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

The family will announce details of the service once finalized but it will likely be held at the club.

Matt Webster
Director of Senior Rugby
