American Football Wellington is pleased to announce their squad for Flag Football Nationals. Like the mighty Megazord, the squad is made up of players from the Hutt Valley Spartans & Wellington Wolves. We look forward to watching what these legends of the game achieve this weekend.

We also want to wish the man, the myth, the legend or as we know him Diako Ishmael (aka Borat/Shakira hips/Don Julio) all the best with his move to Aussie.
Diako has been a pivotal force for the Wolves and Flag Football as a whole. For those who don't know Diako has been on the NZAFF board, is a player and leader for the Wolves, Otara Sentinals and Tau Little teams, referees and supports the NFL Flag School programmes, helps mentors and coaches our youth on Sundays and is selfless in sharing his knowledge to help anyone - a true MVP (hope I did not miss anything off this list!)
Many of us have been left standing on the pitch watching Diako shimmy in for a touchdown unable to comprehend how we were unable to rip his flag, even though we swear we had it in our hands and had him surrounded with a least 3 players! This was no one-off but a frequent occurrence that Diako inflicted on many defenders.
Brother on behalf of the whole Wolf Pack we wish you all the success and happiness for your future.
Fear not though as we will also see him at Nationals this weekend -.watch out defenders!

We have been slack so some updates, here is the first one: Jackson.
Jackson has moved to Aussie to start his family and we want to acknowledge the impact he has had on Flag Football. He started off playing contact American Football before we were lucky to lure him over to the flag version. From then on he was a driving force behind the Wolves and bringing professionalism, structure and success to the Wellington Wolves.
Jackson help turn a group of people catching up weekly to throw a ball about into teams that grew in skill and knowledge of the game. A master at the QB role, he made it look easy and had the ability to fit the ball into the smallest window for his receivers. He made those around him want to improve and become better, was selfless and got everyone involved. The man has an arm, don't think most people can punt the ball as far as he can throw it, plus he was accurate (had to check he was not a machine, turns out he is just superhuman!)
Jackson led the Wolves to multiple tournaments and went on to win the NZ Flag Nationals in 2022. Has represented NZ at Flag in Malaysia, Finland and China.
If anyone was wondering what it may be like to catch a cruise missile just get Jackson to throw the ball at you! Be sure to have your hands up early though!
All the best for you next chapter in life Jackson and look forward to seeing you at Nationals this weekend.
