✨ Matariki may be a time to look to the stars…

…but I’m looking at the volunteer roster! 😄

We’re still looking for:

⏱ 2 x Timekeepers
🎯 1 x Funnel Manager
🎟 1 x Finish Tokens

If you can spare an hour or two on Saturday morning, we’d love to have you on the team. These are straightforward roles, full training is provided, and you’ll be helping make another fantastic Whangārei parkrun possible.

Comment below or send us a message if you can help.

💙 Ngā mihi from your ever-hopeful Volunteer Coordinator.

🎶 It appears we’re bringing back an old favourite… 🎶

On the first day of parkrun, my wonderful community gave to me…

⏱ Two Timekeepers,
🚩 Two Marshals,
🎯 A Funnel Manager,
🎟 Finish Tokens,
📱 A Barcode Scanner…

🎵 …and a partridge in a pear tree! 🎵

…if anyone’s got a spare partridge, we’ll happily swap it for a volunteer 😄

With Matariki weekend upon us, we know many of our regulars may be away, so if you’ve been thinking about giving volunteering a go, this would be a fantastic week to step in. Every role is straightforward, full training is provided, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

Without our volunteers, there simply isn’t a parkrun.

If you can help fill one of these roles, we’d love to hear from you. Comment below or send us a message.

Ngā mihi to our amazing Whangārei parkrun community – let’s make a little Matariki magic and get this roster over the line! ✨💙

🌟 Milestone Monday 🌟

Another fantastic Saturday at Whangarei parkrun and another opportunity to celebrate some amazing members of our parkrun whānau. 💙

🎉 Official parkrun Milestones

⚫ 100 – Elliot W, Mandy E

🟣 25 – Renate S, Indie P, Emily F

🎉 Unofficial Milestones

✨ 350 – Neville B

✨ 200 – Mark T

Congratulations to you all! Whether it’s your 25th parkrun or your 350th, every milestone represents dedication, perseverance, friendships made, and plenty of Saturday mornings spent on the Hatea Loop.

Milestones aren’t measured just by the numbers. They’re built by showing up, one parkrun at a time, and every single one deserves to be celebrated.

🎉 Volunteer Milestones

⚪ v10 – Emily F, Nadine F

A huge thank you to Emily and Nadine for reaching their 10th volunteer milestone. Every volunteer credit helps make Whangarei parkrun the welcoming, safe and inclusive event that we all know and love. We couldn’t do it without you! 💙

📸 Milestone photos

We missed milestone photos again this week… but only because nobody wore a milestone bib! 😄

So here’s your friendly reminder: if you’re celebrating an official milestone, keep on wearing the bibs! They help our volunteers spot you before the start so we can celebrate your achievement and capture the moment. 📷

💙 A little reminder of what makes Whangarei parkrun so special…

Whether you’re running, jogging, walking, volunteering, pushing a buggy, cheering from the sidelines, chasing a PB, or simply catching up with friends afterwards, there’s a place for you here.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone belongs. Everyone gets the same applause at the finish line.

Congratulations to all our milestoners this week. Thank you for being part of our community and for continuing to keep on keeping on.

See you Saturday! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
