It is incredibly frustrating when a deal that started with a lot of excitement suddenly goes quiet.

The best way to win back a silent prospect is to stop sending “just checking in” emails and start sending actual value.

Deals usually stall for very specific reasons, like a missing budget or confusion over the next steps. Instead of asking for a status update, you can move the deal forward by identifying the exact roadblock. This might mean building a clear implementation plan or showing the true cost of doing nothing for another month.

When you focus on solving their internal hurdles, you stop being a salesperson and start being a partner in their success.

Look at your pipeline and pick one deal that has been sitting still for too long. Which of these five roadblocks is actually standing in their way?

Try reaching out to that prospect today with a specific resource that addresses their hurdle instead of asking for an update.

Focusing on business outcomes is the first step to moving a deal forward when a prospect starts pushing back.

It is easy to fall into the trap of listing off features when you hit a wall, but that usually just makes people tune out.

The real goal is to teach your customer something about their own business that they haven’t even considered yet. When you uncover a hidden problem or show them a different way to look at their goals, you stop being just another vendor. You become a guide who helps them see the true cost of staying exactly where they are.

Pick one deal that feels stuck right now. Identify one “hidden problem” they might be overlooking and share that specific insight with them today.

Hearing “I’m not interested” two seconds into a call isn’t always a real rejection.
Buyers often give a knee-jerk reaction just to protect their time.

It’s a natural instinct to say no to a stranger before even hearing the offer. To get a real conversation started, the goal is to lower the tension and help them move out of that defensive mode.

Opportunities are often hidden right behind those quick rejections. Dropping the “sales persona” and just talking to people like a normal human being can make all the difference.

Everyone loves a Relationship Builder. They are polite, they build great rapport, and they are genuinely well-liked by your prospects. But being liked doesn’t always equal to getting a deal closed.
