I replaced my ex with a horse.

I know how that sounds. I was a single mom — rent to pay, a four-year-old to raise — and four days after deciding to divorce, I met the horse of my dreams and brought her home. Everyone, including my own mom, thought I'd lost it.

But my therapist said something I've never forgotten: if I didn't say yes to my inner child in that moment, I'd just keep repeating the same pattern — people-pleasing, shrinking, making myself smaller so everyone else stayed comfortable.

So I said yes.

14 years later, Lilly is still with us — and every day, my kids get to see the joy that choice gave me.

That's the whole root of what I teach now: how to choose yourself over the patterns you inherited, so the people you love the most get to grow up free.

If this stirred something in you, I built a free 2-minute quiz — Ana's Connection Compass — to help you see your own pattern in your closest relationships. Link in bio, or comment "COMPASS" and I'll send it your way. 💛

Want more joy? Try this. 🤍

Open your childhood photo album. Find one photo where you can just tell — you were really, truly enjoying yourself.

Now think: what activity could bring back that same feeling today? Or this week?

Open your calendar. Actually schedule it.

That's it. That's how you get to enjoy your own life — not by waiting for joy to show up, but by making space for it.

Help. 😅

Our house has been full all summer — three teens, their friends, friends of friends. And I love it. I love the laughter, the pancakes, the noise.

But my cup is full.

I'm getting triggered by things that didn't bother me back in July. Not because the kids — or anyone — did anything wrong. I just need more space than I've had.

So yes... I'm actually looking forward to school starting. 🙈

Was your house full all summer too? How are you? Still alive?

Want more peace at home?

Because if you can start your day with your favorite drink...

And if you can take the first 20 minutes of the day to do what lights you up. For me, it's Mana Movement practice.

And if you can take an intentional break when you can't hear your breath anymore.

Then you create a calmer inner state that will set the atmosphere for your outer home space.

You've got this. I believe in you.

I didn't yell. But I should have exploded. 🤍

Four hours of driving. A full day helping my aging parent move into a home. All I wanted was dinner and my bed.

Instead — a messy kitchen, my stepdaughter mid-cooking, my son needing last-minute help for his camp. Something in me almost snapped.

I paused. Asked myself: why am I this triggered over a camp plan? Truth is — my nervous system was already empty. So I showered, retreated, and asked my husband to take over.

I should've set that boundary before I even walked in. Old pattern — still learning, even after teaching this for years.

Recognize this pattern in yourself? Type "pattern" and I'll send you the quiz. 👇

Breakfast, today. 🫐

No plan — just a dog walk. And wild raspberries, right there on the path, waiting.

We look for magic in the big moments. But most days, it's small. Quiet. Easy to walk right past.

Life is full of small, daily magic — you just have to be present enough to notice it.

What small magic did you almost walk past today? 👇

Small tweaks move mountains 🏔️
Reading Tiny Experiments this week and it's rewiring how I think about change. Not one big leap — just small, compounding shifts. Starting with how you treat yourself.

What's one tiny experiment you could run this week? 👇

It's 8pm. I know I overgive. And I did it again today. 🫠

Cooking with my kids. Helping them plan their day. Giving a friend feedback on her project. All good yeses. But the one thing I promised myself I'd do today for my work? Still not done.

And the question that actually stops me isn't "why do I overgive" — I already know why. It's this:

Will I miss them? Will I miss what's right in front of me — the people I actually care about — because I'm too busy proving I show up for everyone?

My mom missed me. I don't want to miss my kids the same way, while I'm busy being useful to everyone else.

If that question hit you too — tell me who you're scared of missing. I'll read every one. 👇

I counted 16 pairs of shoes at my front door today. 🤍

I'd planned a calm Saturday — quiet, maybe get some work done. Instead: kids, friends, neighbors, guests, one after another. By the afternoon, this is what our doorway looked like.

Parenting (and honestly, life) doesn't run on the schedule you planned. The calm, controlled version isn't the "right" one, and the busy, loud, unplanned one isn't a failure. They're just different days.

The skill isn't controlling which one you get. It's noticing which one you're in — and actually being in it.

How many "extra" people showed up at your place this weekend? 👇

Yesterday we watched the sun disappear behind the moon.

And everyone stopped. Everyone looked up. Everyone was in awe.

But the sun is there every single day — and we barely notice it.

Our kids are like that. Our partners. The people closest to us.

Always there. Always shining. And so easy to take for granted.

What if today, you looked at the people you love like you look at an eclipse?

With that same wonder. That same presence. That same quiet gratitude.

They're not going anywhere. But the moments are. ✨
