This evening we have the Bluegrass band Quarter House performing at 7:30 in downtown Albemarle as this weeks Thursdays at the Station Outdoor Concert Series offering. The concerts are free but we do pass the hat and all monies collected are given to the band. Concessions are available. The remaining schedule is as follows:

Rock Creek Pool opens on SATURDAY!!!! Hours are 11am-530pm on Saturday and Monday.

With Memorial Day weekend upon us, don't forget about the annual "Fish for Fun Day" sponsored by Albemarle Parks and Recreation and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

The event will be held at City Lake Park here in Albemarle on June 1 from 8am-11am. This event is FREE and everyone is welcome. As part of 2019 National Boating and Fishing week, fishing license requirements for youth participants and adult assistants will be waived for this event.

Some loaner rods are available and door prizes will be given away as well. All anglers 15 and under will be eligible to enter a statewide drawing for prizes such as tackle boxes, rod and reels, fish playing cards, spools of fishing line, fishing towels and more.

The grand prize is a lifetime sportsman license that includes fishing and hunting privileges donated by Neuse Sport Shop located in Kinston, North Carolina. Come on out for a great day of fishing, fun, and the chance to win some neat prizes.

[05/11/19]   Happy Mother’s Day! Tomorrow Albemarle Parks & Recreation will host the annual Mother’s Day Breakfast at EE Waddell Center (621 Wall St) at 8:00 a.m.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Albemarle Parks & Recreation Easter Egg Hunt today at City Lake Park. The Easter Rabbit was there with nearly 2000 eggs and we had 3 lucky prize winners who found Golden Eggs.

Join us this Saturday, April 20th at 11am at the City Lake Park Amphitheater for the Albemarle Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny will be there with thousands of treat and toy filled eggs for ages 10 and under. There are also special prizes in each of the three age groups for the finder of the Golden Egg.

Still haven't decided what to do for Spring Break?!?!?

We are still taking registrations for programs next week. Registrations for the Zoo Trip and Mini Young Explorers will run through this Thursday, April 18.

April 23 we will be taking a group of kids to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. Ages for this trip will be 7-15 and we will be taking up to 18 kids. The cost of this trip will be $25 for city residents and $35 for non-residents. A t-shirt will be included.

April 24-25 we will be having a Mini Young Explorers session. This session will last two days and will be for kids ages 7-9. The cost for this program will be $25 for city residents and $35 for non-residents. This program will be limited to 15 children.

There has been a slight change of plans for the grill off at EE Waddell Center tomorrow. Most of the competitors withdrew from the competition due to the weather conditions so there will be no voting for the grillers.

There will be plenty of food. Ticket prices have been reduced...all you can eat for $10. Come out tomorrow between 12 pm - 3 pm and get some good food.
