A bittersweet day! High Noon Judo junior athlete, Cyrus Na, came to say goodbye to his teammates before heading to college. Cyrus is a founding member and grew up on the mat with High Noon Judo under the tutelage of Sensei Dr. Christopher Round.

He had quite a year. He applied early to Northwestern University, was accepted, suffered a significant injury during a high school wrestling match, had surgery, underwent (and is still undergoing) physical therapy, was stranded on the Persian Gulf at the beginning of the Iran War, was evacuated by the US government, and has been working hard to rebuild his body, hitting his personal best of 450 lbs in trap bar deadlift recently. Now he heads to Northwestern to double-major in international studies and political science.

Throughout it all Cyrus has remained resilient in good cheer and all of us at High Noon are very proud of him. Training partner and ADCC East Coast Trials winner, Maia Matalon, aptly describes him as “everyone’s favorite training partner.” We have no doubt he will come back better and stronger as a Judo athlete once his physical therapy is completed. See you back soon, Cyrus!
