RECAP: A big congratulations to the CHFP athletes who competed at the USA Weightlifting National Championships Week in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lots of pride for the hard work these athletes put into their preparation, and grateful that they were rewarded with successful performances.

First up, the numbers:
Athletes: 8 (Yth, Jr, U25, Sr)
Successful attempts: 36/48 (75%)
Personal bests: 15; 5 for total

The foundation and goal of CHFP Weightlifting is athlete development. We measure that by the athletes' technique being more efficient and consistent, they are stronger, they make more lifts in competition, and they collect competition PRs in their lifts and for total. Quantitative and qualitative measures that demonstrate they're making progress and they're better athletes.

This squad hit the mark at the highest level of national competition. All eight were able to match or exceed at least one of their competition bests. No athletes recorded a DNF and collectively they were successful on 75% of their attempts. Well done!

Heartfelt thanks to Heather Krause and Brian Leung for their tireless efforts all week in support of the athletes' success.

And finally, shout out to the USA Weightlifting staff and all the volunteers who delivered another top-notch national championships. Greatly appreciated! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

We'll see you at the next one!

FLASH REPORT: Congrats to Mav Holloway who delivered a remarkably gritty and resilient performance last night at the USA Weightlifting Junior National Championships in Colorado Springs.

Coming into this championship, Mav was rightfully fired up due to her training prep leading up to this competition. It showed in the sn**ch with Mav getting 2 of 3 attempts and finishing with a personal best 86 kg (+5).

In the clean and jerk, Mav experienced difficulties with the altitude and went down on the platform on two of three attempts. But throughout this meet, Mav remained determined and resilient and delivered a solid 100 kg on her 2nd attempt and notched a PR total at 186 kg. Despite the challenges, Mav earned positions on the podium, securing Silver in the sn**ch and Bronze for total. Awesome fight, well-deserved reward. ๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰

FLASH REPORT: Joe Korchnak put together an outstanding debut performance at his first Junior National Championships on Thursday afternoon. Joe [110 kg] recently completed his high school senior year of throwing (shot put, discus), so his prep for this competition was more like an "off-season" meet. Nevertheless, Joe excelled, successful on 5 of his 6 attempts, and matching his competition bests in the sn**ch, clean and jerk, and for total.

Celebrating a PR clean and jerk and total.

Yaz, you worked so hard for this!! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Sixteen weeks ago, you decided to qualify. Six weeks ago, you hit the qualifying total with the PR lifts you needed. Then you stayed focused and committed all the way through your final lift at Nationals.

After the adrenaline of the sn**ches wears off, I saw you working ๐Ÿ˜ค and fighting ๐Ÿ”ฅ to stay locked in during clean and jerk warm-ups when the energy in the warm up room was low and the weights were getting heavier. Thatโ€™s a champion mindset.

You had multiple opportunities to let โ€œhardโ€ win, but you didnโ€™t. You trusted your preparation, stayed focused on the task in front of you, and went after what you wanted.

Not everyone is willing to do the work when nobodyโ€™s watching. You did.

And then it showed when everyone was watching. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

So proud of you. Great job!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ
