I’ve had the privilege of watching this player of mine grow since the day we first met at Dallas Premier, then continued our journey together at VPJ, and now PONO Volleyball.

I’ve watched her step onto her school’s Varsity team as a freshman starting libero, and now take on a whole new role as their starting setter. Watching her continue to grow, adapt, work hard, and love this game the way she does has been something special.

Lo-Lo, I am so proud of you! Keep grinding, keep believing in yourself, and keep earning everything you want from this game. I’ll always be in your corner cheering you on! 💪🏽❤️

Today will always carry so much meaning. Exactly one year before you were born, I lost my best friend. So every year on your birthday, I’m reminded of both the pain of losing him and the incredible joy God brought into my life through you.

When you were born with that little mark in the middle of your forehead, what they call a “kiss from an angel,” I couldn’t help but feel that someone very special had kissed you before sending you to me.

You changed my entire life the day you were born and gave me a new purpose. Watching you grow into the beautiful, strong, talented, and loving young lady you are today has been one of my greatest honors.

No matter how old you get, you will always be Daddy’s little girl, my Day 1, and my forever battle buddy. I love you more than words could ever express. Happy 15th birthday, baby girl! 🎉❤️

Tonight was one of those special full-circle moments as a coach and a father. I had the opportunity to watch two former teammates compete against each other for their schools.

Daniela, I’m incredibly proud of the amazing player and young woman you continue to become. Although you now play for a new club, I will always be one of your biggest fans. I have nothing but love for you and your family, and I’ll always be cheering for your success.

And to my daughter, Brielle, I’m so proud of you for continuing to work hard, grow, and compete with passion.

Coaching is about so much more than what happens on the court. It’s about the relationships we build and supporting our players wherever their journeys take them. Watching these two compete tonight filled my heart with pride. Keep striving, keep growing, and keep chasing your dreams. I’ll always be in your corner! ❤️🏐 ❤️

Club season may be in the off-season, but these are still my girls. Getting the chance to watch my current players compete for their school teams and show them some love is what coaching is all about.
