Stars Above Aspen returns for its 10th year in partnership with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies bringing guided telescopes, a collaborative universe mural, and constellation storytelling to the top of the Silver Queen Gondola on August 10. Most lifts you just ride. 1A, you remember.

Since 1971, it’s carried first-timers and locals alike, and quietly became part of this town’s story. This week, that story reaches its final chapter as 1A’s removal process begins. These photos are for everyone who has a memory on the fixed grip double that lifted us up, and brought us together.

Thank you, 1A. We’re grateful for every memory, and we look forward to what’s next on the horizon, including honoring the legacy of this lift, and the history of Aspen snowsports.

This Saturday, July 25: riders take to the 25 mile loop, with 5,000 feet of climbing, and some of the gnarliest singletrack in Colorado.

Solo? Go big with 2 laps. Team up and split it. However you ride it, this course does not mess around.

Four mountains 🏔️ One legendary day 🏃‍♂️The Audi USA Power of Four Trail Run pushed athletes to their limits across every foot of climbing and every mile of terrain, culminating in a single unforgettable push to the finish.
