In the 2025-26 NBA season, on July 7, 2025, the Knicks acquired the 33-year-old Clarkson from the Utah Jazz. As a proud Filipino-American, he serves as a massive cultural icon and trailblazer for Filipino basketball on the global stage. He traces his Filipino heritage to his mother, Annette Tullao Davis, and his grandmother, Marcelina Tullao, who hails from Bacolor, Pampanga.

During his New York stint, he enjoyed wandering the streets of the city, nicknamed 'The City that Never Sleeps'; where he embraced various cultures, including Filipino culture.
