RECRUITING MISCONCEPTIONS
There are a lot of misconceptions about the college recruiting process.
One of the biggest is that when a college coach shows interest in a player, that means the player is being recruited.
It doesn’t.
Interest and recruitment are two very different things.
A coach watching a player, asking about her, following her on social media, responding to an email, or coming back to watch another game can all be signs of interest.
But interest is only the beginning of the process. Interest has to develop into consistent communication, evaluation, relationship-building, and ultimately a legitimate recruiting opportunity.
Another misconception is that having one great tournament guarantees that interest will turn into recruitment.
It doesn’t.
One great weekend can absolutely get a player’s name on a coach’s radar. It can create interest and open a door.
But coaches aren’t recruiting one tournament. They’re recruiting a player.
They want to see consistency. They want to evaluate development. They want to understand the player academically and athletically. And they want to determine whether that player fits the specific needs of their program.
An organization can provide the platform. It can provide exposure. It can help create opportunities and put players in front of college coaches.
But at the end of the day, the player still has to perform. PERIOD.
The uniform doesn’t get the scholarship.
The organization’s name doesn’t get the scholarship.
The player earns the opportunity.
That’s why the process matters.
Keep developing. Keep performing. Keep communicating. Take advantage of the opportunities put in front of you.
And most importantly, trust the process.
