A little about me outside of baseball…”

Most of you know me as the guy who’s always posting Orioles updates, celebrating every win, and riding out every tough inning with this fanbase. But outside of Camden Yards, I’m also a firefighter with Bowleys quarters vfc

Being a firefighter is a huge part of who I am — the training, the calls, the teamwork, the community. It’s the same kind of heart and grit that makes Baltimore baseball special. Long nights at the station, early mornings, drills, water rescue, medical calls… it’s all part of serving the place we call home.

I love this city. I love this team. And I’m proud to serve the same community that fills those orange seats every summer.

So if you ever see Engine 211 rolling through Middle River — that’s my crew. And when I’m not on the rig, you’ll find me cheering on the Birds with all of you.

Catching Depth Hit Hard: Primary catcher Adley Rutschman was placed on the 10-day IL in mid-July with left wrist inflammation. Just days later, top prospect/catcher Samuel Basallo also landed on the 10-day IL due to right shoulder inflammation, forcing the team to rely on Sam Huff and Chadwick Tromp behind the plate.
Infielder Injuries: Jordan Westburg underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery in May, and infielder Blaze Alexander suffered a fractured left hand in mid-July after being hit by a pitch.
Pitching Staff Losses: Reliever Keegan Akin underwent Tommy John surgery in July. Meanwhile, Chris Bassitt (lower back bone spur) and Ryan Helsley (elbow inflammation) were both transferred to the 60-day IL in July.
2. Extensions & Trade Activity
Kyle Bradish Extended: Baltimore locked up starting pitcher Kyle Bradish with a 5-year, $50 million contract extension ($23 million covering his remaining arbitration years).
Roster Depth Moves:
Acquired reliever Cam Sanders from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.
Called up power-hitter Christian Encarnacion-Strand from Norfolk to reinforce the infield.
Traded pitcher Kyle Nicolas to the Washington Nationals in exchange for shortstop prospect Randal Diaz.
3. 2026 MLB Draft Highlights
With the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, the Orioles selected high-upside outfielder Eric Booth Jr. and officially signed him shortly after.
4. On-Field & Standings Overview
Baltimore faced a challenging stretch throughout May and June, hovering under .500 (42–51 through early July) due to inconsistencies and pitch-staff injuries.
Despite a brief surge leading into the mid-July All-Star break, the mounting injuries to key cornerstones have tested the club's depth heading straight toward the August 3 trade deadline.

Orioles Update: Opening Day ➜ All‑Star Break

From the first pitch on Opening Day to the final game before the All‑Star Break, it’s been a gritty, fight‑filled first half for our Baltimore Orioles.

The season opened with energy — strong pitching, clutch moments, and a lineup that showed flashes of what it can be. We’ve had ups, downs, close games, frustrating losses, and some big-time performances that kept us in the hunt.

As we hit the All‑Star Break, the Birds sit right in the mix, battling through injuries, tough series, and one of the hardest divisions in baseball. The record doesn’t tell the whole story — this team has fight, heart, and second‑half potential written all over it.

🔥 First-Half Highlights

• Pitching stepped up early and kept us alive in tight games
• Lineup depth improved with new faces making an impact
• Competitive in almost every series, even against top AL teams
• Still within striking distance of the Wild Card race

😤 What We Need in the Second Half

• More late‑inning offense
• Better road consistency
• Closing out tight division games

😬 We’ve had some heartbreakers — including that brutal 6–5 walk‑off loss.
🩺 Injuries hit hard: Adley on the concussion IL, Holliday dealing with groin tightness.
📈 Record: 36–42 and still battling.
🎉 Big crowds for Tupac bobblehead night & more fan events coming.

This team has heart. This team has fight. And this season is far from over.
Let’s go O’s! 🧡🖤

The Milkman Delivers: Colton Cowser etched his name into O's history with BACK-TO-BACK walk-off home runs against Detroit and Tampa Bay over the holiday weekend! Pure magic at Camden Yards.
💪 Next Man Up: Adley, Pete Alonso, and the young gun Samuel Basallo have been doing everything they can to carry the load and keep us right in the thick of the AL Wild Card hunt.
🏠 Protecting the Yard: We continue to play solid baseball at home (18-15) even when the road gets rocky.

Here is high-stakes drama for the Orioles as May winds down. It's been a roller coaster month of massive walk-offs, crucial roster shuffles, and high-stakes division battles.
it’s that Colton Cowser owns late-inning magic. The "Moo" crows are echoing through Camden Yards after an unbelievable stretch:
The Back-to-Back Walk-offs: Cowser hit an epic 3-run walk-off homer on Sunday (May 24) to secure a 5-3 comeback win over the Tigers in Game 1 of the doubleheader.
He Did It AGAIN: On Monday (May 25), he repeated history against the first-place Tampa Bay Rays, blasting another walk-off home run down to his last strike in a wild, 13-inning, 9-7 thriller.
📈 Roster & Prospect Watch
Jackson Holliday Finding the Spark: After a tough start to the 2026 campaign, Holliday finally launched his first home run of the year during the wet series opener against Detroit. He followed it up on Memorial Day with a clutch, game-tying sacrifice fly against the Rays, showing signs that he's turning a corner.
Coby Mayo Day-to-Day: Fans can breathe a slight sigh of relief. Mayo was a late scratch from the Sunday doubleheader with lower-back discomfort. While he sat out Monday as well, manager Craig Albernaz expects him to avoid the Injured List (IL).
The Pitching Puzzle: While Kyle Bradish continues to fight hard at the top of the rotation, Trevor Rogers is hit an incredibly rough patch, suffering his sixth consecutive loss on Sunday evening (pushing his ERA up to 6.96).
Minor League Pipeline Promoted: Keep an eye on Class-A call-ups for your future posts. Left-hander Caden Hunter (boasting a stellar 1.17 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 23 innings) and right-handed reliever Todd Kniebbe have both officially been promoted to High-A Frederick.
📊 Current Outlook
The Orioles currently sit at 24-30 following Monday's massive 13-inning emotional victory. It’s a vital turning point as they kick off a critical home stand at Camden Yards against the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays and a subsequent series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The offense has been searching for consistency all month, but back-to-back thrilling walk-offs might just be the spark this young clubhouse needs to make a serious push in the AL East.

westburg: shut down from throwing again after his elbow flared up on may 4... return is still tbd
povich: on the 15-day il with forearm discomfort... team might give him a cortisone shot
trevor rogers: should be back this week after that illness
helsley: imaging was clean but still hasnt started throwing yet
holliday and kjerstad: both moving to triple-a norfolk today to continue rehab
mountcastle: cbs is saying mid-june at the earliest for that foot injury
basallo: scratched yesterday with knee discomfort... still waiting to see how bad that is
kremer: looking like a late may return for his quad

And this is why the orioles are struggling.. it’s injuries . We need to get healthy . It’s a long season .
