A great day for the ROLLSTAR Jiu Jitsu MD team.

Congratulations to our teammate, Diego aka RIO SOMBRIO, on an incredible win at AGC 1. The work put in every day on the mats showed today.

Proud of you, brother. Keep climbing.

Huge shoutout and congratulations to Diego, aka RIO SOMBRIO aka Rio Sombrio, for an absolutely dominant performance in his superfight at the inaugural AGC 1 – anacondagrapplingchampionships.

From the opening exchange, Diego set the pace, controlled every round, and left no doubt who was in charge. Then, in the third round, he sealed the deal with a slick triangle choke to earn the finish in spectacular fashion.

This is what relentless preparation, discipline, and trust in the process look like.

We couldn't be prouder of your performance, your composure, and the way you represented Rollstar.

The journey is just getting started for this young man. On to the next one.

Leading by example means continuing to put yourself on the line.

Professor Hernan did exactly that this weekend at the IBJJF VA Open, finishing 1-1 and earning 🥈 silver after a closely contested finals match.

Whether coaching from the sidelines or stepping onto the competition mats himself, he continues to embody the mindset he expects from his students, to challenge yourself, embrace adversity, and never stop growing.

Back to the lab and on to the next show.

Competition isn't just about medals, it's about having the courage to step onto the mats and test yourself.

Proud of Mikaael Wise and ……. for putting themselves in the mix at the IBJJF VA Open. That alone is something not everyone is willing to do. Every match, every victory, every setback, and every lesson shapes us, not only as Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, but as people. It builds our mindset, our character, and our resilience.

It was an honor to stand by your side, coach you, and cheer you on throughout the day. Watching each of you embrace the challenge made me proud to represent Rollstar alongside you.

At the end of the day, wins and losses come and go. We compete because we love Jiu-Jitsu, we love the process, and we fight for our academy.

Thank you, Randy, for coming, supporting, and cheering with us. Much love to you all. On to the next one, in shaa Allah.

Technique is one thing. Understanding how techniques connect is another.

Over the past several months, we've been building this sequence one piece at a time. Now it's all coming together into a continuous flow drill that develops timing, awareness, connection, and reactions between training partners.

In this sequence we work:

➡️ Open guard passing
➡️ Position control from full mount
➡️ Armbar attack
➡️ Hitchhiker escape
➡️ Chair sit
➡️ Back take
➡️ Back escape
➡️ Return to top position and back into the pass

Instead of stopping after one technique, both partners are constantly given opportunities to respond, recover, and continue the exchange. This creates a more dynamic learning environment where students develop a deeper understanding of not just what to do, but when and why to do it.

Rinse. Repeat. Refine. Every rep builds better movement, stronger connections between techniques, and greater retention.
