Congratulations to Jeremy Gautreaux on winning the 2026 BREC Player of the Year award. Jeremy won in overwhelming style, leading second place finisher Craig Rose by over 3,000 points. Jeremy won the Baton Rouge Open, the Webb Memorial Championship, the JS Clark Championship, and the City Park Championship. He also partnered with John Henchy to win the Harry Neese and the Mardi Gras tournaments. It was the most dominant year a player has had in BREC Player of the Year history.

Jeremy previously won Player of the Year in 2020, 2023, and 2025. When he won in 2023, he became the first player to win Player of the Year more than one time. Winning in 2026 makes him the first player to win Player of the Year in back-to-back years.

The top 10 players all earn gift cards for their year-long performances. Check with a BREC golf course manager about picking up POY gift cards. Congratulations again to Jeremy Gautreaux and the top ten finishers in the 2026 BREC Player of the Year race. The 2027 Player of the Year begins on November 1st at the 27-hole Harry Neese Tournament at City Park.

Congratulations to Stan Watts & Brandt Garon on winning the 2026 Plainsman Tournament at Beaver Creek GC in Zachary. The Plainsman Tournament is a two-day 36-hole Better-ball tournament. Stan & Brandt were tied for first place after posting a 7-under par 65 in Saturday’s first round. They backed that up with a Sunday 8-under par 64 and a comfortable two stroke victory at a 15-under par 129 total.

Grant Welch & Stephen Cavill also shot 8-under par 64 on Sunday to finish in 2nd place at 13-under par 131. First round co-leaders Mike Drury & Jacob Maranto finished in 3rd place at 12-under par 132.

Dustin Lambert & Jason Humphries won the First Flight shooting 70-67-137. The team of Ken Miller & Tim Melancon came in 2nd at 138. Andre & Jack Prejean came in 3rd at 139.

Brett Hughes & Jamie Lavigne won the 2nd Flight with 74-66-140. The teams of Jory Comeaux & Ryan Fabre and Mario & Monty Migliacio tied for 2nd place at 143.

Congratulations to Mark Bienvenu on winning the 2026 Baton Rouge Amateur on Sunday at Santa Maria Golf Course. Mark had to win four matches over two days to take home the Amateur Championship.

In the Sunday morning semi-final matches Mark Bienvenu won 4 & 3 in his match against Jeremy Gautreaux and Jacob Maranto won 1 up in his semi-final against Carter Schmitt. In the Sunday afternoon final match Mark Bienvenu won four holes up with three holes to play (4 & 3).

Congratulation to Mark and thanks to everyone who played in this match play championship.

The first two rounds of the 2026 Baton Rouge Amateur Championship were completed today at Santa Maria GC. This match play tournament features top amateur finishers in the Baton Rouge Open and BREC Course Champions.

In the morning round of 16 matches, Nicholas Cristea, Mark Bienvenu, Luke Schwartzenburg, Jacob Maranto, Carter Scmitt, and Clay Pinson advanced.

In the afternoon quarterfinal matches Jeremy Gautreaux advanced winning 1 up in extra holes, Mark Bienvenu won 3 up, Jacob Maranto won 1 up in extra holes, and Carter Schmitt advanced winning 1 up.

The Sunday morning Semi-final matches will be Jeremy Gautreaux against Mark Bienvenu and Jacob Maranto against Carter Scmitt. The final match will be played Sunday afternoon. Good luck to everyone on Sunday.

Congratulations to Larry Daigle on winning the 2026 Baton Rouge Senior Open at Santa Maria GC this past weekend. Larry held the first round lead after an opening round of one under par 71. He followed that up with an even par 72 on Sunday to secure a four-stroke win.

Phil Frazier came in second after posting the low round of the tournament, a six under par 66, on Sunday. Wade Gautreau finished in third with Chad Braud and Phil Schmitt tying for fourth place.

Phil Castro won the Super Senior Division with a three over par 74-73-147 total. Tim Melancon captured second in the Super Senior Division with Pat lambert finishing third.

Congratulations to Jeremy Gautreaux on winning the 2026 Baton Rouge Open today at Beaver Creek GC.

After Saturday’s first round David Marsh held the lead after posting an opening 5-under par 67. Drew Silman was alone in 2nd place at 4-under par 68, followed by Jeremy Gautreaux and Greg Berthelot at 3-under par 69.

Gautreaux shot Sunday’s low score, posting a 7-under par 65 for a 69-65-134 total that earned him a two-stroke victory. 2025 Baton Rouge Open Champion Greg Berthelot finished in 2nd place after a Sunday 5-under par 67. David Marsh shot a Sunday 2-under par 70 to finish in 3rd place.

Also posting 5-under par 67 on Sunday were Carter Schmitt (4th place), Austin Watts (6th), Ryan Fabre (8th), and Chandler Davidson (9th).

Thanks to all 67 players who competed this weekend at Beaver Creek GC. Congratulations again to the 2026 Baton Rouge Open Champion Jeremy Gautreaux.

The BREC Adult/Child Cadet Division tournament (child ages 13-17) was held yesterday at Webb Memorial golf course. The tournament was scheduled as an 18-hole scramble, but when the players were all on the back nine the weather had other ideas and the tournament was eventually stopped and scored based on team scores on the front nine.

Three teams tied for the lead at three under par 33. After applying the tie-breakers the team of Jack Terry & Joshua Hudson took 1st place, Jason & Micah Broussard came in 2nd place, and Reynold Lagarrigue & Jordan Williams came in 3rd place.

Two teams finished at two under par 34 with the team of Mike Norris & Hank Terry coming in 4th , and the team of Randy & Kai Grip finishing in 5th.

Congratulations to Stephen & Luke Maciasz on winning the BREC Adult/Child Youth Division two player scramble yesterday at City Park GC. In the youth division the child player is 12 years old and under. Stephen and Luke shot four under par 28 in this nine-hole scramble. Francis and Peter Mata came in second at two under par 30. Daniel Chambless and Gabriel Zimmerle finished third at one under par 31. The teams of Ryan & Rory Kyle and Danny Simoneaux & Theo McEvers tied for fourth place at one over par 33.

Congratulations to everyone who played. These “fun first” Adult/Child tournaments continue next weekend with the 13-17 age group playing on Saturday at Webb GC, and the 18 and over Parent/Child tournament playing Sunday at Santa Maria.

Congratulations to Schuyler Cotton and Donny Schmidt on winning the Four-Ball Challenge tournament on Saturday at Beaver Creek. Recent rains had the course soft and wet, but Donny and Schuyler were able to shoot 32-35 for a five under par 67 total.

Robbie White and Landon Covington shot 32-37 for a three under par 69 to finish in second place. Jamie Lavigne and Jason Humphries shot two under par and came in third at 32-38-70. Four teams tied in fourth place at one under par 71.
