Global Hapkido Association
This is the official page of the Global Hapkido Association (GHA). Created by GHA Board Members of Battle Creek, MI, U.S.A. in 2013.
The Global Hapkido Association (GHA) was founded by Grand Master Lee in 2013. His vision was to expand the martial arts community of Hapkido not just nationally, but globally. He promotes Hapkido but respects and welcomes every martial art to join our organization. On April 17 of 2014, GHA signed a Cooperative Agreement with Myongji University of South Korea.
The May 9, 2026 National Championship in Puebla, Mexico.
Thank you to Hapkido Puebla for the incredible hospitality and strong support for Global Hapkido Association.
We also had a great meeting with GHA MΓ©xico masters and school owners, planning future championships, competitions, and major seminars ahead.
Also, thank you to Grandmaster Adrian Garcia for your great leadership.

Today we lived a historic moment for our great Hapkido family.
With great pride, we celebrated the inauguration of the new Hapkido school in Xilotzingo, a place created to develop martial artists with discipline, respect, leadership, and an indomitable spirit.
We also had the honor of holding our very first Black Belt Examination Ceremony, an event filled with emotion, effort, and pride for all our students and their families.
We were honored by the presence of our highest international authorities:
π₯ Hee Kwan Lee, Founder President of Global Hapkido Association.
π₯ AdriΓ‘n GarcΓa, President of Latin America for GHA.
π₯ Francisco GarcΓa Avila, President of GHA Mexico and founder of the Mexican Hapkido Association.

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Dojunim Ji Han-Jae, one of the most influential figures in the history of Hapkido, who left us on January 28, 2026 at the age of 89. π°π·ποΈ
Dojunim Ji Han-Jae was a true pioneer of Korean martial arts. A Grandmaster whose vision, skill, and dedication helped shape Hapkido into a global discipline practiced by tens of thousands around the world. Born in Andong, Korea in 1936, he began training at a young age under the great Choi Yong-sool and went on to integrate the techniques, philosophy, and spirit that would define modern Hapkido. His lifelong devotion to the art also led him to found Sin Moo Hapkido, a system that harmonizes powerful techniques with meditation and personal development.
Beyond the dojang, Ji Han-Jaeβs influence reached popular culture. He appeared in martial arts classics, including a memorable fight scene with Bruce Lee in Game of Death, helping bring greater global awareness to Korean martial arts.
On behalf of the Global Hapkido Association (GHA), I extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the honor of studying with him. His legacy lives on through every practitioner touched by his teachings, and through the countless Hapkido schools and instructors around the world who continue to carry his vision forward.
Rest in peace, Dojunim Ji Han-Jae. Thank you for your lifetime of service to our art and to the global Hapkido community. Your spirit will forever guide us. π―οΈπ
