When athletes no longer have to guess when the ball is arriving, they can dedicate more attention to how they move.

That's one of the biggest advantages of predictable ball delivery athletes get when working with our spike trainers.

Instead of constantly reacting to inconsistent timing, athletes can focus on refining their approach, improving arm swing mechanics, and making cleaner contact. Over time, those consistent conditions help build more repeatable movement patterns.

Every hitter wants more power. But power starts long before contact.

Your approach tempo window creates the foundation for a consistent swing. When that tempo changes from rep to rep, your timing, contact point, and ability to generate force often change with it.

The best hitters aren't just repeating swings. They're repeating the same approach, the same tempo, and the same movement pattern until it becomes second nature.

Your physical training has a plan. Your mental training should, too.

The Mind x Set x Spike individual spike trainer bundle was created to help athletes train both. Pair your reps with a coach-developed, guided mental performance course that helps you reflect, reset, and grow with purpose.

Confidence isn't built by thinking about it. It's built by practicing it.

Not every rep is a quality rep.

A useful benchmark for developing elite hitters working with our spike trainer is aiming for 15 to 18 quality reps out of every 20 balls. That doesn't mean perfection - it means repetitions with good timing, balanced footwork, clean contact, and intentional ex*****on.

When technique starts to break down, more swings don't always lead to more improvement.

What percentage of practice reps would you consider true quality reps?

A new season doesn't require a new athlete. It requires a commitment to the habits that move you forward.

You'll make mistakes. You'll have great practices and frustrating ones. Some days you'll feel unstoppable, and other days you'll wonder if you're making progress at all.

Choose consistency over perfection. Stay coachable. Focus on what you can control. Progress comes from the small decisions you make every day, not from one perfect performance.

These numbers aren't a rulebook - they're a sample progression.

As athletes move from high school to club to college, training volume generally increases. More importantly, the number of quality reps increases.

Every repetition is an opportunity to reinforce timing, movement patterns, and decision-making. Over time, those reps help transform movements that once required conscious effort into skills athletes can rely on under pressure.

The goal isn't to chase a number. The goal is to accumulate consistent, high-quality reps with purpose.

How many quality reps are your athletes getting each week?

One of the biggest misconceptions in coaching is that athletes need more criticism to improve.

In reality, athletes who feel psychologically safe are often the ones most willing to embrace feedback, make changes, and keep growing.

Correction is part of coaching. But trust is what allows correction to land.

If you only had 100 reps with a brand-new hitter, what would you prioritize?

For us, it's not power. It's building the movement...approach, timing, balance, and clean contact. Those fundamentals become the foundation for every swing that follows.
