Took these ladies to school and show at Poplar Place this weekend. They were both challenged with doing something harder than they’ve done before.

Montse did the 2’ Optimum time stadium class. This was her first stadium trip on him and her first time competing with oxers. She rode making smart decisions and it paid off. First and second places. Glad she swallowed her nerves and trusted her wonderful pony, Echo. She won first and second!

Madilyn schooled the entirety of the 18 fence Beginner Novice XC course Friday for the first time. Lots of difficult obstacles and the course asked some level appropriate, but difficult questions. They did a great job with all of it. Then we did a few stadium BN classes for fun today. She came in a close second and a 4th. Excited by the progress these two have made this year. Proud of them both!

Thanks to Poplar Place for a fun show with great courses. Thanks to the support team these young ladies have. I’ve said it before, but it takes a village and we have a great one!!

I took the pony kids to show at HJ Fox this weekend and we had so much fun! Their Halloween show is always a good time with lots of extra fun costume classes and themed competitions!!

Hadley did her 2nd show, but on a new horse. Not only a new horse, but Sunday I added her first jumping classes ever! I also made her canter them instead of trot them. She rode our lesson pony, Chaplain, and he was also a rockstar. He was brave in the windy conditions, helpful when he needed to be, and an all around good boy. They took Reserve Champion Saturday and Grand Champion Sunday in their beginner flats. They also had Reserve Champion in the beginner crossrails!

Montse took her lease pony, Echo, to their second show competing in the competitive division of Short Stirrup. Toughest courses she’s shown over, but won her first over fences trip Saturday!! She’s starting to be more consistent and able to ride the strides in the lines! Very excited to see these two continue to develop.

Gabby began a lease on a pony a few months ago. It’s both hers and the pony’s first full lease! It was also the third show for them both. Ellie is a stunning and talented welsh pony out of Wellington, but not a packer yet. She is learning how to horse show while Gabby does the same. Not an easy thing, but with the village at CSF we have they finished the weekend with very respectable ribbons and classes. More importantly, with more experience and more trust in one another. Gabby cantered her first full course at a show Sunday too. Very proud of her and Ellie!!

Thanks to both Nicole and Madilyn for taking time out of your busy weekend to drive to the horse park just to support these girls, their ponies, and myself. You two are a blessing to us all.

It takes a village and we certainly have a wonderful one. Great job girls!! Looking forward to the next show.

A friendly reminder to all riders out there beginning their riding journey……..

The easy horses are never the ones that teach us the best lessons. The smart opinionated, or the hotter horses are the ones that often teach us the most valuable lessons.

Have a difficult lesson where you struggled? GREAT. I bet you learned something.

You have to fail sometimes in order to grow. Learn to appreciate those moments and those horses.

Give yourself permission to go mess it up. Just remind yourself to breathe, make learning from a mistake a priority, and always remember to have *fun*!

We are blessed to have an arena that drains incredibly well.

Our arena has a French drain system built in underneath it. There is also additional base to maintain footing integrity and drain well on top of that system. We rode this morning no problem despite the torrential downpour over the last 24 hours.

Grateful to not miss arena riding time due to the rain! I definitely complained during the year long construction process that it was taking too long, but it was worth it.

Meet Lanzarote (barn name is L.J.)!

What an incredible horse this guy is. He has a good USEF record spanning from NY to Miami. He was also a team horse at Auburn University for their NCEA team. Owning him at all is a blessing.

LJ and I have competed in dressage, hunters, jumpers, hunter paces, and combined training. We have even done obstacle courses and pushed cattle. He has also done IHSA Zones and IEA Nationals shows.

He is another one of our amazing lesson horses here. He is a school master for sure. We are lucky to have such a well educated guy to share his knowledge with our students.

Yesterday we welcomed a familiar face to our string of lesson horses. Thanks to Haddon Sport Horses, this beautiful mare will be helping us accommodate all of our new students. We are so grateful to them for trusting us to borrow Ella!

It’s time we introduced our incredible string of lesson horses.

Meet Chaplain!

He’s one of our beloved lesson horses here at CSF. He’s a 24 year old 14.3H Quarter pony. He has been in our family for almost 10 years now. He took my oldest daughter around the Hunter Ring for a few years before she outgrew him. Then he was an IHSA and IEA team horse. Now he teaches students and introduces them to the sport and horse showing!
