Last week, the BDS Barn Rats came out to help me give the school horses their summertime mane makeovers. ☀️😎 They learned traditional and more comfortable ways to shorten and thin the horses’ manes, and the horses feel cooler and look sleeker with their new hairdos. Don’t worry. We still have a couple long-haired ponies too, so we’re all set for our braiding clinic this weekend! Come learn traditional hunter braids or how to get a neat look if you don’t want to cut your horse’s mane.

My first group yoga-ish offering of the year at the barn is coming up in less than 2 weeks! 🧘🏼‍♀️🐴💖

We will combine pranayama and mindful work with horses to improve our attention and our communication. I’m so excited for folks to experience liberty work with horses too. 😊

Despite the cold burst of weather, I took one of my lessons out for a conditioning ride on the trail and through the paddock. The pony that never likes to move was trucking around. And the horse that has been struggling with some training setbacks seemed curious and content. All horses deserve a change of scenery. Get them out of the ring, folks.

Having all these riders at the first Horsemanship Clinic of the year made my whole weekend! Thank you to everyone who came out to learn how to better care for our horses. 🫶 We learned a little about feed and water and pasture management and a lot about maintaining stalls and different kinds of bedding. I didn’t realize how passionate about this topic I was until I started putting the class together. Our horses really do deserve the best life we can give them. 🐴❤️

The next clinic is May 16th. That one is all about horse & rider fitness. Join us! 💪

It’s not glamorous, but it’s so important… The best riders I’ve worked with or trained under were all willing to jump in and clean the barn with the rest of us. And they all had impeccably high standards. ✨ This Saturday, you can learn the daily process of managing a horse barn. Barn management is the topic of this year’s first horsemanship clinic. 🐴❤️😊
