We don’t often get run reports, so when we do they’re extra special! Thanks to Sandra who visited us last week and wrote this up. If you ever want to write a run report just let us know! The rest of the pictures from last week (and a few from this week) will be up later tonight.

Danehy Park parkrun event #239

I’ve been looking forward to this parkrun ever since I did Jamaica Pond last October, as the people of Massachusetts are so friendly and fun! I chose this parkrun as I’m chasing my second parkrun alphabet and I needed a ā€˜D’. I just need a ā€˜Z’ to complete my second alphabet. I’m also only 2 away from my first volunteer alphabet! I live in Chicago, but I’m originally from the UK. I only have two parkruns less than an hour from my house and there are only four parkruns in the whole of Illinois. For my British friends out there, Scotland and Ireland are about half the size of Illinois, Wales is about a seventh of the size and England is fairly comparable, but slightly smaller. So that’s like having 4 parkruns in the whole of England! Which is why I have to travel and make special trips if I want a new parkrun. It’s all worth it to me though as I get to meet people from all over the world.

The weather was perfect with blue skies and a little breeze. This parkrun was extra special as had more tourists than usual due to the World Cup. There was myself, from Chicago, and also tourists from Ireland, England and of course Scotland! It was super fun to see all the Scottish flags, kilts, tartan, football shirts and other attire. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and I didn’t even hear any booing when the English visitors were mentioned (cough cough)!

Out of 135 participants, 50 were new to this parkrun and 10 were brand new to parkun, welcome: Will Tisdale, Mark Robinson, Tanya Liu, Katherine Silk, Rebecca Mclaughlin, Rachel Gilson, Aakash Thumma, Shonelle Duncan, Jordan Thomas, Amit Danenberg. Hope you all come back for more at this or another parkrun somewhere in the world!

Congratulations to Rutayan Patro for your 50th parkrun and to Alex Cuellar for your 25th!

There was much to celebrate as there were eleven PBs! Well done to: Ann Turbett, Brian Shirreffs, Jay Demarrais, Siobhan McMahon, Maite Iriarte, Khalil Chaibi, William Kirby, Rogier Landman, Kenneth Yoon, Jon Iriarte and Ammon Wadley. Also a big well done to Ross Mackenzie for coming first with an amazing time of 17:17 and an even more amazing age grade of 81.39%. Big shout out for first female Donna Maclean with a fantastic time of 22:49 and 70.27% age grade! Just to remind everyone, it’s not a race (ahem), unless you want it to be!

Huge thank you to this week’s vounteer’s whom without, parkrun wouldn’t be able to go ahead:
