OHSAA FLASHBACK FRIDAY: In 1952, First and Ten Magazine published Ohio's first high school football statewide schedule booklet. It included the schedules for all 473 schools that played football that season, including many schools that no longer exist or have consolidated into larger districts. This season, there are 706 schools in Ohio that play football.

π ThisDateInOHSAAHistory: Aug. 27, 2016 - In only four sets, New Bremen's Paige Jones recorded a state-record 53 kills in a match vs. Fort Loramie. Jones would later set a state tournament record with 72 kills in two matches in 2017.

πΎ GIRLS TENNIS: The Lindner Family Tennis Center wrapped up the Cincinnati Open this past week. The facility also hosts the girls and boys tennis state tournament!
The 2026 Girls Tennis State Tournament is October 15-16.

π ThisDateInOHSAAHistory: Aug. 26, 2022 - Medina's Danny Stoddard passed for 621 yards, sixth most in history, and six TDs in a 43-42 loss to Avon. Brennen Schramm caught 14 passes from Stoddard for 293 yards and three TDs.

π ThisDateInOHSAAHistory: Aug. 25, 2016 - Newark's Abby Davies scored eight goals in a girls soccer match vs. Mt. Vernon. She also scored eight goals vs. Franklin Heights (9/20/16) and is one of only two players in the record book with two career games of at least eight goals.

π ThisDateInOHSAAHistory: Aug. 24, 2017 - Antwerp's Rachel Williamson recorded 45 kills in a volleyball match vs. Miller City, tied for fifth-most in history at the time. Entering the 2026 season, Williamson's total ranks tied for 11th in a single match in state history.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: The oldest publication in the OHSAA archives is a 1916 copy of the Eighth Annual Handbook and Report of the Board of Control. The OHSAA didn't sponsor a postseason tournament for football until 1972, but football was among the sports featured in the earliest editions of the Handbook.
