Meet Get-A-Grip rider Josh Atkins!
Josh started racing BMX in 2019 and is one of the newest members of the Get-A-Grip family, joining the team this year.
When it comes to favorite tracks, Josh has two. NOVA BMX will always be special because it's his home track and where so many great memories have been made. He also loved South Park BMX (pre-rebuild) in Pittsburgh, for its fast pace and jumps that were perfect for floating through.
Although he enjoys racing both bikes, Josh prefers class because it's faster and simply more fun to ride. His favorite pros are Cam Wood and Olympic gold medalist Connor Fields, while longtime coaches Kevin Caccavale and James Foxx have been the mentors who've helped shape him into the rider he is today.
Outside of BMX, Josh stays active playing soccer, skiing, and riding dirt bikes with friends. This past year, one of his biggest highlights was finally getting his own downhill mountain bike. If he could ride any track in the world, H Town Supercross Track tops the list.
Fun fact: Josh says he's surprisingly good at math... even if it's not exactly his favorite subject.π And if he had to eat one food for the rest of his life? Sushi wins, thanks to all the different varieties.

Meet Get-A-Grip rider Martin Shank!
Martin started racing BMX in 2021 and joined the Get-A-Grip family in 2023. Since then, he's had an impressive run, capturing three District 1 titles.π
When asked about his favorite track, Martin didn't hesitate: NOVA BMX. It's his home track and where his BMX journey began.
Martin enjoys racing class because, as he puts it, "I get points!" His favorite mentor is former NOVA BMX rider Jacob Wolfe, who now lives in Texas but still loves to ride whenever he can.
When he's not at the BMX track, Martin stays busy playing baseball, basketball, running track, and cross country. If he could have any superpower, he'd choose the ability to control the elements, a skill that would definitely come in handy on race weekends!
Fun fact: Martin's family represents 75% of Washington, D.C.'s BMX racers! With four active riders in D.C. and three of them being Shanks, it's safe to say BMX is a family affair.π
