At four and five years old there are no submissions at all.

Parents ask this first, so here is the plain answer.

White belt, four and five: three minutes, points the whole time, and no submissions at all.
Upper belts at four and five get one minute of submission only, then two minutes of points.
From eight to fifteen the match runs four minutes, two of them submission only.

No child match allows leg attacks below the waist, wrist locks, slams, jumping guard or neck cranks.

That is the Machado Method Invitational, Sunday October 11, in the same building as the Summit and on its own registration.

Here is how Sunday actually runs, before you enter it.

Single elimination. The first part of every match is submission only. Then it goes to points. A tie goes to sudden death overtime.

Points: four for the back, four for mount, three for a pass, two for a sweep, two for a takedown, two for knee on belly. A three count to score.

Adults and juveniles get five minutes. Three of those are submission only.

Gi and No-Gi divisions. One uniform per style is enough, because blue and red anklets are used instead of two gis.

$95 for your first division until Monday at 7:00 AM. $120 after that.

Your Summit ticket does not cover Sunday.

They are two events. The Summit runs Thursday to Saturday, October 8 to 10. The Machado Method Invitational runs Sunday, October 11. Same building, different registration, different payment.

The Invitational is $95 for your first division until Monday September 7 at 7:00 AM. After that it is $120. Registration closes October 6 and nothing is taken after it.

Gi and No-Gi divisions. Ages four through adult. Spectators are $10.

Eleven named instructors. Three days on one mat in Carrollton. Five sessions with Master Carlos Machado across Thursday, Friday and Saturday, in the Gi and No-Gi.

Master Royce Gracie teaching MMA Self Defense for two hours on the Saturday. Prof. Jeff Glover on deep half guard. Prof. Brandon McCaghren on triangles. All three on the same day.

Five rank evaluation windows on Thursday and Friday, and a Ranking and Award Ceremony on Saturday at seven.

What changed is the number.

Adult, full weekend: $299.99.
Youth, full weekend: $199.99.
