Know the rules, ride smart, ride safe!
As electric bikes, scooters, and motos become more common throughout Casper, the Casper Police Department is launching an education campaign to help riders and families better understand the laws and safety considerations surrounding these devices.
Not all electric-powered devices are treated the same under the law. We encourage everyone to review the attached flyer to learn more about the differences, applicable rules, and safe riding practices.
As part of this campaign, officers will be conducting traffic stops when violations are observed, using these opportunities to educate riders about applicable laws and safe riding practices. Citations may also be issued when appropriate.
Regardless of legal requirements, we encourage all riders to wear a helmet, choose appropriate clothing and footwear, and stay alert to their surroundings.
Parents and guardians, please make rider safety a regular conversation with your children. Talk with them about traffic laws, safe speeds, where they can ride, and the importance of being aware of others.
Our goal is to promote safe, responsible riding and help keep everyone safe on Casper's streets and pathways.
