The West Ashley Jr Wildcats 12U suffered their first loss of the season yesterday, but I’m so proud of the way the team handled itself this season so far.

Going into the season, we lost several top players for different reasons. I had kids literally tell me, “I’m not playing for y’all this year because y’all are going to be sorry.” 😣🤔 sorry???? We’re 7–1 and probably one of the top five 12U teams in the state. That’s a testament to our system. We truly have a development system, a next-man-up, plug-and-play system.

Why is it so hard to hold volunteer coaches accountable? Being unpaid does not excuse belligerent behavior or failing to be a role model. Volunteering is a choice, and it comes with a responsibility to always be respectful, act with integrity, and set a positive example for the youth you serve.

Youth football just need more accountability across the board. No one wants to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong, Leadership , coaches, or parents. Everyone does stupid stuff and just points the finger at someone else.

If you really sit back and pay attention, you’ll see who the real problem is. They’re banking on the idea that our football community is so toxic that they’ll never be exposed because everyone will side with them in their foolishness. But what they’re underestimating is that there’s a God who sits high and looks low, and He will bring everything to light. Just watch. 👀🙏🏾

We appreciate all the love and support you show the West Ashley Jr. Wildcats throughout the years. For the most part, our community does a great job upholding the positive culture we’re proud of, and we’re grateful for your partnership.

The West Ashley Jr. Wildcats are committed to creating a safe, welcoming place where kids can learn, grow, and develop, not only as players, but as good human beings. The culture we build together is the foundation for that growth.

We ask everyone at our games and practices to refrain from using harsh profanity and, especially, the N-word. This language is harmful and has no place in the environment we want for our players. Our children are listening, learning, and looking to the adults around them to set the example.

Thank you for helping us keep West Ashley Jr. Wildcats events respectful, supportive, and focused on the positive experience every child deserves.
