Last week, we spent the morning chasing bass just outside of College Station with Aggie legend Ryan Swope . From slinging ranches at Swope & Young Land Company to frogs, spinnerbaits, and even urchin baits, Ryan’s the man, and we had a blast on the water with him!

Ryan seems optimistic about the Aggies this season... what do y’all think?

Back in July, we headed to Charleston, SC to plant 1,466 sq ft of Spartina plugs in Old Town Creek - an area that has, due to erosion and storms, lost the needed filtration and protection from Spartina. We had a blast getting our hands dirty and getting out on the water with Mr. PAUL PUCKETT himself.

Spartina is critical to a healthy salt marsh. Its dense roots hold mud in place, helping prevent erosion while filtering runoff and improving water quality. Charleston Waterkeeper and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources SCORE are restoring eroding shoreline with Spartina plantings. Their goal is, with the help of volunteers, to plant 21,000 Spartina plugs and restore 21,780 sq ft of marsh!

For Chad Leonard , guiding quail hunts in Georgia sparked a love for Cocker Spaniels. Fastforward to present day, alongside his wife Sara and the whole family, Hillcountry Gundogs is committed to seeing the breed improve through responsible breeding, evolving training tactics, and being tested through field trials and hunt tests.

On top of being an absolute pro, and having one of the sweetest gundog rigs we’ve seen, Chad is one of the most down to earth humans we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. If you see that trademark mustache and his big ol smile, just know, you’re in for a good time and maybe a dove blues serenade.
