We currently are hosting Summer 7's practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at North Charlotte Park 6:30-8:30pm. If you have questions don't hesitate to message us!

Charlotte Barbarians RFC Announces Retirement of the #5 Jersey

CHARLOTTE, NC — August 15, 2026 — In a decision that absolutely nobody asked for, the Charlotte Barbarians RFC has announced that the club will officially retire the #5 jersey out of respect for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Following extensive consultation with absolutely no one, club leadership determined that continuing to wear the number would be “disrespectful to the legacy, aura, and general vibes” of Daniels.

“Jayden Daniels has done enough for the #5,” said an unnamed Barbarians spokesperson. “It would be selfish of us to continue using it.”

The club acknowledges that Daniels has never played for the Charlotte Barbarians, has never requested this gesture, and may have no idea who the Charlotte Barbarians are.

The #5 will be honored in a ceremonial retirement immediately, with plans to replace it with #4.5.

The Charlotte Barbarians RFC would like to thank Jayden Daniels for his service to the number 5.

The club asks that all questions regarding this decision be directed to Jayden Daniels, who is equally confused.
